I know you're joking with the post, but to set the record straight, Fran and Iowa did offer Hogue and as soon as he committed to ISU, Iowa took Jok's commitment within a week. So far I am happy with who we landed.
I'm among those who said similar things -- still like to use the misnomer nickname 'Lil Ejim' :smile: ... also seems like every quote from Ejim regarding Hogue is how Mel has to work hard to get as many rebounds. Good to share workload and also motivate Ejim at same time.
I think that in many ways, he's better than Ejim. Definitely a more explosive jumper and rebounder. Ejim has a more rounded offensive game for sure. He's developed a post game and has a better handle. Hogue scores mostly garbage buckets and open jumpers. But I do think that he guards better and is a better rebounder than Ejim.
One thing I really like is the toughness that Hogue and Kane bring to the team. It's infectious. This team is way tougher than any of FH's previous teams.

Some of that toughness is Sadler coaching defense too. Remember last year when we'd just sag off everyone (except whoever Babb was guarding) and focus on just getting back in transition? This year, it's all go all the time - you aren't getting any easy shots against this team, especially inside. Even with the new rules, we are holding teams way below their averages. That translates into close wins instead of close losses (UM and BYU this year vs KU twice last year).
I haven't been this excited for Cyclone MBB for a LOOOONG time. This is just a special year.
Ejim has developed into a legitimate scoring threat/premier player, and Hogue is the new garbage monster - works hard, rebounds like it's a job, and benefits from all of the double-teams and dump-offs when the defense sucks in on the ball handler. He's a monster.

Not to get too excited in the non-con against bad teams, but looking over the stats this team is burying threes at a very high percentage again.
Not sure at what percentage they are attempting them compared to the last couple years, but seems any questions surround the team's ability to hit from deep are being answered.
That number will drop a bit as ISU faced stiffer competition, but as the team completely learns the offensive concepts, the open looks will continue to be there.
Agree and, so far, Hogue is further along than Ejim was last year. His outside shot is already more consistent and he matches Ejim's rebounding prowess.
For whatever reason, which I can't recall, I remember thinking that Houge would just be an extra body to the roster and Amardi would be the mainstay in the front court with his size.
Amardi is racking up about 17 minutes a game against junk competition for Oregon, and really only playing marginally at this point according to his stat line. 3 games with 3 points or less so far.

The new rules make it imperative to have a dynamic offensive team/gameplan.
Tim Floyd ball is darned near impossible now so glad we got a guy that's learned from so many great coaches like Tim.
Jared Homan had 20 against baby Shaq of UNC in the tourney .... man I could go for a highlight reel of those 20.
