Duhawk Open

I wonder if Austin is just talking in general or is there another open tourney around next weekend?

Has DiBlasi or Dewitt wrestle in that Missouri tourney last year. That would probably close to their hometown

And I know Dewitt is not on the team anymore

Fringe wrestling fan here, who are these guys? Are they sitting out this year or true freshman not good enough to start yet or what?

I'm guessing he'll be at the first one since we've had that one on our schedule for a while and the coaches will be in the area since we wrestle in Fargo and Brookings this weekend.

3 VERY solid kids to continue to to build the program with..along with Mackall, Parker, Degen, Straw, Colbray, Gremmel..add in this year's class and we are building something.

I REALLY like Leisure by the way..think he has huge upside with our staff..not sure where he fits in..he will have to beat someone out (which he could) - depth is going to be such a nice thing to have in the future haha

And also - for the future - I would really love it if a wrestler is in between a weight (similar to Parker) maybe even Leisure (149/157), Carr (157/165) and Shapiro (184/197) that we start bumping kids to the higher weight. I think kids can just have so much more to give if they aren't killing themselves all week to make weight. Its better for the kids and better for wrestling to grow the sport if coaches and athletes continue to do this IMO

I've said this for the last several years and couldn't agree more!

Good in theory but you better be able to beat the guy above you or you will ride the bench. If all the studs move up like PSU then great but rarely does it work that cleanly.

Well hopefully we get to a point where it doesn't matter what weight you go at because every spot is a dog fight to make the lineup..

I know there is still a month and a half left this season, but I am already getting excited about next years lineup.

125- Mackall
133- Gomez, Simmons
141- Parker, Gomez
149- Degen, Leisure
157- Straw, Leisure, Carr (on the off chance he doesn't redshirt)
165- Transfer please
174- Coleman
184- Bush, Shapiro (if he doesn't redshirt), transfer?
197- Colbray
HWT- Harrington, Gremmel

Not too bad. Main weak spots are 165 and 184, but maybe a transfer will help out. Hopefully this roster can get us back into the 10-15 range, and I'd say an outside shot at a top 10 finish. This is really banking on guys like Colbray and Harrington to continue to improve and get to a point where they are R12 guys. I'd say best case scenario for next year is the 10-15 range, but I'd love to eat some crow and have these guys break into the top 10.

I'm excited about this lineup too, but still think the 10-15 seems too optimistic. I'd shoot for top 25. It looks to me like a more solid dual team, but not as great a tournament team. There still isn't someone in that lineup that I'd feel confident to predict an AA finish from. But, I see top 20 in 7 weights and maybe a couple that are top 12 (Gomez, Degen, Parker, Harrington).

Yeah top 15 would be best case the more I think about it, but for a team comprised of primarily freshmen and sophomores, that would be a good spring board for the future seasons.

Way better dual team next year than tourney team..overall greatly improved. Would love to get some transfers this offseason and also get Cashman to commit!

Need to get back to top 20 to have a semblance of a base built. Far from where we want, but that would show the corner may be turned and the train is back on tracks.
