DSM Register talks to Jeff Grayer

I’d prefer not to give any more comments at this time until something is more concrete.

Sounds like he's lined-up and just working out the details to me.

Just seeing the picture of Jeff makes me want him on the bench.

If Danny Manning is good for KU, then Jeff Grayer is good for ISU.

Grayer has as many accolades as Manning except the Natl Championship.

Don't forget a big advantage in addition to a Natl Championship. Manning also has a Bill Self to work with.

There is also the name recognition nation wide of Danny Manning. However great cyclone fans think of Jeff Grayer, he is not as well known as Manning. Also Manning was brought on the staff and spent for years as team manager and worked on student-athlete development before being an assistant. I hope they do something similar with Grayer because he has no college coaching or experience recruiting.

What can Grayer really bring to ISU basketball? I'd be all over this hire if the program wasn't in shambles at the moment. Right now McD needs to hire coaches and recruiters, period.

What happened the last time he was here as an assistant. I can remember a preseason basketball tipoff a few years ago where he was introduced as a coach (under LE I think). As I recall he was back here to finish his degree and was going to do some coaching. I don't think I heard anymore about it during the season that year.

I know there was talk about him playing tennis, but can Grayer bring in Darius Stevens now?

Maybe someone who knows the game yet wouldn't be hurt if the whole staff gets blown out of town after one year. I would think that hiring assistants in this situation would be difficult.
