Down goes Iowa

I still don't get the blaming Pollard thing. They got a great draw with a relatively easy path, and I'll admit I was one of the ones who thought this was the year Fran finally makes the 2nd weekend. Won't make that mistake again.
They hate Pollard, absolutely despise him. He had the audacity to not bow down to the great Hawkeyes. That billboard is still living in their heads.

The blame Pollard narrative didn't start until after they lost to Richmond. Prior to it, many of them thought they got a great draw and were looking forward to seeing Iowa playing in April.

They can still hold "pity" parties so they can sit around blaming the refs, Pollard, slippery Wilson basketballs, playing on the portable floor above ice, having to play in a wide open arena to throw off their normal accurate pin-point three-point shooting, the Tom Davis curse....am I missing anything?

There is a loud refrain among fans and media people that this loss isn't on Fran, it's on the players.

Yeah, it's not on the guy making millions of dollars who recruited, coached, developed, and prepared every one of the players for the game yesterday. Can't be his fault, it has to be a bunch of 20 year olds. Jeez some of the guys lengths these guys will go to not blame the one guy whose responsibility it is blows my mind.

Maybe now they'll flip and say that The "NOT A PLAY IN GAME" is a play in game so they don't look so bad...

retaining a hothead coach with nepotism issues anger issues and a fade when it matters. Not to mention the entitlement garbage spewing out of him and his family and players. You'd think they'd get tired enough of it to quit giving him extensions after yet another flame out.
It will leak in about 2 months that there was a secret extension given to him after they won the Little 14 tournament...

Its this and its very strange to see, IMO.

When Larry went B2B big 12 season and tourney champs to lose in the first round, I can't think of a newspaper in Iowa that didn't want him fired. Iowa has the national media talking them up and their run at the end of regular season and B10 tourney... to poof out to a lowly team in round 1. The Iowa media response? anything but fire fran.

Yeah, it was so unfair Iowa was forced to play the 6th place team in the Atlantic 10 Conference, on a court above ice, with a slippery basketball, in an arena with unusual sight lines. Those poor Hawkeye fans definitely got cheated.

This is some next level stuff right here
wowza.... LSU had one less day of rest than we did.

Richmond played four games in four days and had the same rest period as Iowa.

Nothing is across the country from Iowa.... Nothing.

My only reply to that galaxy brain would be this: Were you concerned about playing in the BIG10 tourney on Saturday or Sunday, or did you enjoy the run and had fun?

Well, I had to do it. I was wondering what a tourny was so I went to the all knowing.

It probably was hard on Iowa playing.

Sarcasm meter is on....

Don't you understand? Out of the 68 teams in the tournament, the only one the NCAA didn't want in the final 4 is Iowa. And let's not forget "Hawkeye-envious" Pollard was on the committee.

It is impossible to take Iowa basketball seriously. A bigger Fake ID than the football program.
What an indictment of how far BIG basketball has fallen.

The immaturity of fans to think that and wrap their existence around how a sports team does is truly baffling. Just accept the loss and move on with your life. It's not that difficult!
