It's actually getting rare that a kid would not go on official visits if he has the opportunity too. He knew what school he was going to and didn't drag other schools along. I'm sure Va Tech and Ole Miss coaching staffs, while disappointed, are a little happy that they can focus on other players. Mature thing Jackson did.
