Does lucious or clyburn care

The most frustrating thing about this year is the defense. We do not get a hand in the opposing teams face when they shoot. We just run at them and that's about it. We are just lazy on that end and it pisses me off. I thought Cornell Mann was brought here because he was a great defensive coach and recruiter, but apparently he is just a recruiter. Last night was just a mix of everything. Terrible coaching and terrible effort. They switched on every screen and we did not take advantage of the mismatches our posts were getting down low. Until we find a way to get it down the post on those mismatches we will not see opposing team change from the strategy that TT used last night. Also, Percy Gibson should only touch the ball on rebounds. This is the thing I hate about a lot of big men, they get the ball and they think they have to do something because it is a guard dominated game so they chuck up some ******* shot.

Not going to read through the thread as I'm sure there's been a whole lot of stupid thrown out there about KL or anyone else.

If you think that anyone associated with the ISU basketball team "doesn't care" you are delusional. They may not give you the result you're looking for all the time but they care.

The last thing I'll say is, when a team/player is struggling, sometimes doubt and uncertainty creeps in and players start to think instead of just reacting and playing. This slows them down and can look like they are going through the motions. I think its that rather than "not caring". They'll be fine. Fred's got too many athletes for this to be the norm.

Looks like Fred did not want Bubu to play in front of 2368 road fans, but to wait for 13k fan home game.

^^^Or maybe a little over a week of practice with this team and conditioning meant Bubu wasn't ready for a tight game on the road.

You were smart not to read thru this thread because unfortunately I did. Unbelievable that some fans rip on the two players who are probably most responsible for our Big 12 wins. Cory has been our best clutch player, even in the loss against TT when he hit two big 3's to keep us in the game down the stretch. And just because he's cool and calm out there doesn't mean he doesn't care, it's probably what makes him our best clutch player. Lazy with the ball? He had 3 turnovers and it should have been 2. Lazy with the ball and bad defense? We had 11 turnovers to their 15 and gave up 56 points, which is good enough to win most games. A few fans just can't figure out that we are not always going to shoot well, and when Niang is in foul trouble we have zero inside game. If we want to get mad at somebody, how about Booker and Gibson, who are giving us very little at the 5. But I would never accuse them of not caring, that's ridiculous.

I don't know why anyone isn't including McGee in their wrath. In 24 mins, he went 2-10 with 1 rebound and 1 assist, and IMO had the worst shot selection of the night. Frankly, the whole team played terrible, but Clyburn probably played the best out of any of them.

Oh well. One bad loss does not derail a season. Beat KSU, which is very possible, and everything will be fine.

Finally, a post that actually makes sense and reflects what actually happened. KL and WC didn't have a great night, but I would argue that WC had a pretty decent night. But the whole team floundered, for reasons I certainly don't know. I am a big Ejim fan and he was AWOL a lot too. And the McGee comment is very true.

Objectively, the outcome of this game that scared me the most was what we have left on the bench when Niang and/or Ejim foul out. Booker and Gibson cannot get the job done, on either end of the floor, when the game is physical. This has me more worried in terms of making the t'ment that the team meltdown we saw Wednesday.

Thank heavens we have Hoiberg on the bench. He has the ability to get the most out of his players. And if the players have a bad - I mean bad - night, he can't wave a magic wand and turn that around - for a season yes, for a game no.

This is a team very dependent on its success from the 3 point line. You're going to have losses like this, its just part of the deal.

If anyone is wondering what happened to our bigs' offensive rebounding in this game just look at the "block out" on Niang at about the 17:10 first half mark of the game replay for a sample.

EDIT: Sorry, that's 17:10 on the game clock.

So you think booker cares?? He tweeted a few hours before the game that he was ready for summer and his trip to Cali. He also had a tweet that said just a few months left. Hardly sounds like someone that cares to me. His body language every game is pathetic too, that has to be a downer for some of the teammates.

Whoever posted this thread clearly isn't paying any attention. We have 6 guys on our roster who play tons of minutes that "care" However, Booker and Gibson would be the ones I'd call out.

Booker seems sleepy/disinterested every time I see him. When he does go in the game, he looks like he just got done with a crybaby fit and would rather make boneheaded fouls, not play defense and not expect a pass when wide open down low. The guy to me looks like he'd rather pick up 2-3 fouls in 2-3 minutes and sit on the bench all night because he's mad at Fred. Prove me wrong. Cyclone Nation please prove me wrong. You've all seen it. I'm telling it like it is.

Gibson came on strong last year....where did that guy go? Again, very disinterested. No hussle. Add to the fact that he's had 20+ easy put backs or open shots that he's missed down low. Where's the effort. Never blocks out and gets out-rebounded by McGee and Ejim.

Those 2 guys seem to be a cancer on the team. Wish we had more bigs besides Ejim and Niang. Because once those 2 guys get in foul trouble....we are in bad shape with Booker and Gibson coming in.

You're going to have to give me a hell of a lot more than that sort of "evidence" to get me to even consider that he doesn't care. Plus, its comical to think that you can "see" that he doesn't care through tweets and body language but Coach Hoiberg can't. You're just flat out dumb if you think Coach Hoiberg would play him if he felt like he didn't care.

What does an "I care" facial expression actually look like? Im just asking. Does it resemble an expression of panic, do you grit your teeth, are the eyes open slightly wider with lips pursed? Do you have a scowl on your face. If you care do you bare your teeth and growl? Everyone seems to think they don't care based upon facial expression, so I am curious as to what they would look like if they did care.

Thankfully some reasonable posts are showing up.

We have a team of poker faces. Sometimes they deal, sometimes not.
