does anyone else agree about the Boise St. / OSU game?

You know after watching that hook'n'ladder play highlights several times on tube this AM before work, it looks like the reciever who made the catch had the first down (he was about a yard short with a defender maybe two yards away - would've been close) - if the guy 3 yards behind him he pitched it to had gotten tackled we'd all be saying what a boneheaded play it was.

When it works, you're the man.

I said a similar thing this morning when explaining that play to someone that shut it off before halftime.

He had the first easy...got the TD instead. That coach...man...guts.

That has to be up there with the best games of all-time not only because of the amazing ups & downs, David & Goliath feel, atmosphere, etc but also because the "little guy" stepped up and just took it down the throat of the big guy on so many occasions, and it paid off. Last night should wake a lot of teams up and show them that being conservative isn't always the best way to go. Boise State played with it all hanging out in the first half and then in the final few minutes of the game. They tried being conservative for most of the second half and it wasn't working. When they needed to, they stepped up and took it to the house and left people envying that smurf turf we all have made fun of for so long.

I think this game makes a great case for a playoff system instead of the current bowl format. After seeing that game, who wouldn't want to see Boise State play a second round game vs USC for the right play in a title game?

As much distaste I have for Oklahoma, I was impressed w/ the kudos the Sooners gave the Broncos. Then again, with the way Boise smaked Oklahoma in the mouth and took that win, all Oklahoma really can do is give them credit.

It was a great game!

But it's tough to say best of all time...it's just the most recent best game ever played! There have been plenty of great games...can you imagine the NU/OU game back in the early 70s if all of this TV hype existed as it does now?

By the way, I have a question: If an event takes place on a network other than ABC or ESPN is it really a big event??!! IMHO, ESPN/ABC is so tenacious in promoting their own events that they try to make everything they broadcast seem to be the biggest or best ever whereas if they are not broadcasting it their SportsCenter coverage is somewhat muted.

Do you agree?

I don't think its anywhere close to best game ever. I think last year's USC vs. Notre Dame game was better -- even better than last year's national championship game.

those two aren't even in the same league....people just think that because the media likes to do things I can't say on here to suck up to USC and ND

One of the best finishes I have seen in college football in alongtime. Except ISU Toldeo, and national title game last year. OU got what they deserved.

Do you think any colleges, maybe Alabama is Saban turns them down, or Minnesota will go after Coach Chris Peterson of Boise State like Colorado did with Dan Hawkins?

Also, I thought the announcers were TERRIBLE. Bad, Bad, Bad.

I didn't really like Keith Jackson's call of the NC game last year either. Pure excitement when USC scores, but when VY got that game winning TD? Nothing. A few seconds of silence, and then "... touchdown". :no6xn:

I think another school going after him already would be premature. It is his first year as a head coach. Only jobs I know of that are open - MN and Alabama. I doubt he'd take either of those even if they were offered.

If he's able to do something similar in the '07 season, I'd be very surprised if someone didn't make a serious run at him.

My thoughts exactly........I never thought a play off was justified until Utah 2 years ago......... now after that Fiesta Bowl game a playoff is needed .....I have never been a fan of OU or Stoops......I really enjoyed that game and the play calling....

I started my DVR middle of 4 th qtr in case I went to sleep....how could any fan go to sleep watching that game.......oh my wife did..........still the EIU grad at heart and pining for Drew tate and his loss to Texas.......HA HA....she has so many issues

that won't happen. These guys aren't even his players yet. He didn't recruit them. If he continues this success in years coming, he will be popular. But he is definitely a hell of a coach

Boise State is finally getting some respect, and they deserve to play for a national title. They won all their games, against WAC teams that went 3-1 in bowls, and they convincely beat a good Oregon State team, that by the way beat USC. Also the only WAC loss was Nevada, losing to Miami by only a point and having a good shot to win that game. To say their schedule was weak and they played nobody, just look at how these teams performed during the bowl season

Did you watch ND vs. USC last year? I could care less what ESPN has to say about it. Matt Lineart took a team on his back in the final 45 or so seconds to drive the ball 80 yards and then Pete Caroll pulled his own Boise State with a fake spike to roll into the endzone. There were plenty more lead changes in the game as well.

Was Oklahoma vs. Boise State an instant classic? No doubt about it. Claiming they aren't in the same league is ridiculous.

If anything it shows that it's time for a BCS conference to pick up Boise State not that we need a playoff system. Seriously, how many WAC games has Boise State lost since 2002???

I've gotta preface my comments by saying that I hate anything that has to do with Boise State. Of course that's due to Smirf Turf, Jim Criner, and the (In)humanitariam Bowl debacle.

That said, this had to be the best final 4 minutes of ANY football game (although Bart Star's sneak in the Ice Bowl was pretty dang awesome, too). Agree with clones_jer...it kept my attention to the end. Heck, any time you can watch Stoopid Bobby's Bummer Sooners take one in the shorts, it's must see TV!
