DM Register...seriously

CR Gazette is no better. Top third for iowa, rest for SB. isu and uni on page 7. women's hoops on page 2. I thought all 3 men's teams could have shared the front with their performances yesterday. SB coverage could all have been inside.

This just proves that ISU could someday be in the hunt for a National Title, while Iowa was pathetic, and Iowa would still get more media attention in the state.

I guess we just have to live with it.

The Rag is not a legitimate publication anymore. Be glad that they don't embarrass us with more coverage. I saw an old Big Peach recently. Sad to see how far that paper has fallen.

They are on a roll this week.

Today was bad, and Wednesday morning had 2/3 of the sports page previewing signing day with a small ISU/K-State article at the top.

I get that it was Tom Davis day at the Carver Hawkeye landfill, but seriously, how about covering a team that is relevant?

Just keep winning.....

Rag just isn't relevant anymore. You just have to go to Cyclones.com, or here, or some other website. Sad but true.

Some people just aren't happy unless they have something to ***** about. If you don't like it, than don't read it.

Attending ISU in the late 70's I was pretty ambivalent about Iowa. Until....1976 when ISU defeated Nebraska in Ames. The next morning I was shocked to see the Registers Big Peach (remember the Big Peach? - with the peach colored paper for the sports section?) - had as its main headline and coverage "IOWA LOOSES CLOSE ONE TO PURDUE" or something like that.

ISU's victory was down on the corner of Page 1.

From that point on I was pretty negative on the Register.
It was probably along the lines of "Hawks fall in valiant effort to Purdue" and Iowa States was probably like the sports shorts that they use for Junior varsity high school games that has 3 lines.

UNI deserved the top half of the first page, and ISU deserved the bottom half of the front page.

Iowa should have been on about page 3. 80% of the state didn't even know Iowa was even playing yesterday I'll bet. Heck, the students got in free and were given free cars I think just to show up.

I first realized they played when I saw the score across the bottom of the screen during the ISU/OU game. Actually thought it was the Iowa women at first.

You seriously can't figure out why Iowa got the coverage? They had a big time "reunion" game yesterday. All the "stars" were out...Davis, Pearl, Armstrong, Horton, Marble, Lorenzen, etc, etc, etc. It was a MAJOR event. Thus the coverage.

Put your panties back on and quit being so whiney.

I commented yesterday during the game that Iowa fans and the media would trumpet that up as a big win and another sign that Fran has them "back".

I'll admit though it was a big deal that they were celebrating Tom Davis and the Elite Eight team that choked their a**es off against UNLV

Visiting relatives this weekend in Redfield...
Picked up a Rag at Casey's this morning...
Front sports page is a full page ad of Patriots vs Giants in SB XLVI...

Determination: Iowa, ISU and UNI are page 2 material.

I gotta disagree.

That **** is "feature" material, not sports news. Belongs on the INSIDE pages of the sports page along with stories about Superbowl quarterback's wives and expected favorite superbowl commercials. Actual news, you know, about actual games that matter, belongs on the front page of the sports section

All 3 teams were featured on the front page (minus the SB extra page). What is your gripe again??

That's an extra element I hadn't realized. Even without that, it was an afternoon home game, ISU played on the road with an evening end-time. Publications have to plan how to staff coverage and deadlines are realistic (I don't know DMR's deadline, but I'm sure that affected those plans).

If Iowa played a night game at home and ISU played early on the road vs. a ranked team, there would probably have been a different balance.

I don't have a gripe. I'm commenting on the OP's post which said the Iowa game got the most and Top coverage. And the comment that the reason they got/deserve that was because of the reunion factor.

I said UNI's win deserved top coverage beating a highly rated, also regional, team. ISU should get next most coverage playing/winning on the road and playing for a spot in the NCAA's. Iowa's MBB is definitely sucking hind tit this year and should be covered that way this year.

I don't actually see the DSM Rag in Fl, so I can only respond to what others say, so if the OP is wrong, so be it.

It was a home game that Dr. Tom was at. Of course there is a ton of media coverage. Panties=bunched.
