Two thirds of the front sports page with a picture and a by line article for a team barely over.500 and beating a team without a pulse. How much do they have to prop up this team and this coach. I know, I don't have to read the paper, but I like reading papers. Sure their game was in the afternoon, but ISU was done at seven for crying out loud. If anyone deserved more coverage, it was UNI for their win.

If true agree 100%. Beat a ranked and regional (Omaha) team. ISU's win deserves some pub with potential to be a tournament team. Iowa playing/beating PSU is maybe for a shot at the NIT.

UNI deserved the top half of the first page, and ISU deserved the bottom half of the front page.

Iowa should have been on about page 3. 80% of the state didn't even know Iowa was even playing yesterday I'll bet. Heck, the students got in free and were given free cars I think just to show up.

Hey look, our weekly thread complaining about the Rag and their biased coverage.

Honestly, the Iowa/Penn State game was over before I even realized they were playing today. It seemed like they had been on a rotation of playing Wednesdays and Sundays, so I assumed it was going to be played today.

I was wondering if they were going for some sort of record this week for the highest number of articles about a team from 25 years ago. Kind of funny since that team had one of the biggest choke jobs in state history against UNLV in the tournament. I must be too old to break my habit of reading the morning paper.

The rag is a complete piece of *****. Quit reading it for years. Gannet has ruined that thing and they fired many writers that had a pulse recently so the level of worthlessness is even greater. I wish a competitive paper would start up in des Moines. Thank you for posting this to reinforce why I don't read it any more.

I've seen the other threads and agree somewhat, but today's sports page was a joke. I expect it from an Iowa City or CR paper, but a city 30 miles from Ames?

CR Gazette is no better. Top third for iowa, rest for SB. isu and uni on page 7. women's hoops on page 2. I thought all 3 men's teams could have shared the front with their performances yesterday. SB coverage could all have been inside.

Attending ISU in the late 70's I was pretty ambivalent about Iowa. Until....1976 when ISU defeated Nebraska in Ames. The next morning I was shocked to see the Registers Big Peach (remember the Big Peach? - with the peach colored paper for the sports section?) - had as its main headline and coverage "IOWA LOOSES CLOSE ONE TO PURDUE" or something like that.

ISU's victory was down on the corner of Page 1.

From that point on I was pretty negative on the Register.

Iowa has a basketball team? :biglaugh:

Why worry about it. The coverage of Des Moines and eastern Iowa will always be about Iowa even if ISU wins the national title and Iowa doesn't win another game. It has been that way for years and ISU fans had better get used to it. I don't like it, but facts are facts and life goes on.

That paper is the biggest pile of SUCK out there. Haven't wasted my time on it for years.

Are any of you guys/ gals old enough to remember the glorification of upchuck long by the locust street liar???

That was the middle eighties and thats when I STOPPED TAKING THAT RAG OF A PAPER....

Looks like the locust street liar is on its death bed anyway....GOOD RIDDANCE YOU F'ing RAG..........................

It is pretty easy to figure out. The register is owned by a company that also owns a paper over by IC. They can "cross-cover" and get print out of the same material twice. If they owned the Ames paper, I bet you would see more ISU coverage.

Who's reading the Rag then? Hok fans say the exact same thing about the register but they **** and moan because there is too much ISU coverage.
