DirectTV Question

Well I do not have a phone line so i guess they will have to install it without. Which will be tomorrow by the way since they called and said they couldn't make it today.
I feel like going Kramer on these guys after sitting around 4 hours today.
They are starting off well with me.

Keep in mind it's not really DirecTV, but the independent installers that you're dealing with here.

Here is my Direct TV story the first day they were supposed to come out they actually came out 2 hrs early which no one was there cause we had it set up for noon - 4 they came at 10. After arguing with them they waited outside my house then tried to get me to pay $60 cash to have the dish put on a pole in my back yard. I told them I wanted it on my house (new development no trees in neighborhood). He also did not bring my HD box and said he would not go get it and told me if I wanted I could go to the Direct TV place and get it myself. So I told him to leave. After talking to Direct TV they set me for a new installation the next day. Waited 4 hrs no show. Called and complained set up new time waited 6hrs that day called several times they said they were on there way each time no show. called direct Tv set up new time same thing. By the time I was done I had $150 credit $20 off my bill each month for a year and all the movie channels for free for a year. well needless to say the next time they were supposed to come out same thing no show. So I went to Mediacom.
Sounds very similar to my situation.

My installer told me dont worry about the phoneline and buy all the PPV you want. He said I could get it until my card was full, but once that happened never plug the phone line in. He many have been full of it, I havent tried to get a PPV movie yet.

When you hook up your phone line, it will read the memory card and you will be billed for purchases. That is why there is a credit limit on your memory card.

Well, here I sit the next morning. The guy is 1 1/2 hours late after promising to be here at 8:00 a.m. After calling the gal said she can't get ahold of the installer. So she would call me back in 10 minutes. 1 hour later there is no answer anymore. Hell even the place I bought it from does not answer the phone.

This is too funny. I am being held hostage by DirectTV. Yesterday for 4 hours and now 2 today.
Tell me......is it worth it? Seriously. Cause I am ready to bail.

I thought it only happened to a few people. This must happen all the time from what I have read in online reviews.

I've never had a problem with an installer. You are better off opening the yellow pages and just hiring one from there IMO. When you book it through DTV, you open yourself up to all sorts of potential issues.
