I am thinking of switching to Direct TV or Dish network. We are currently using a local cable company and they offer lousy coverage of ISU games. Mediacom is not an option in our area. Does anyone have an opinion of which is better? Does one have more ISU games than the other? Which package would have the most ISU games? How about service and cost? Any help would be appreciated.

I moved from Dish to Mediacom. I've asked about Direct TV and the people who have it seem to love it. I liked Dish because I had one DVR that I could operate off two TV's. Mediacom said they could do this but got here and couldn't get it to work. I might try Direct TV when this promo s done?

Used to be a loyal Dish subscriber. I thought it was a better value than DirecTV and I believe it was for a while. But Dish has since gone way downhill in my mind. They started dropping channels and a lot of channels that used to be HD no longer are (Disney) and I eventually reached the point where I said enough is enough, I'm going with DTV even if it is more expensive.

Directv is definitely the better option for sports...and I say that having Dish myself.

But in the end tv coverage for Cyclone sports sucks anyway so I wouldn't make that my deciding factor.

Don't watch a lot of TV but would like to be able to see the away games that are televised so it's a big factor in my decision. Any thing else I watch would be on any carrier.

Had Dish, switched to DirecTV and LOVE IT...much better programming, better HD and customer service has been awesome with us. Dish seemed good when we had it but wow is there a difference!

Dish. Only thing lacking is NFL Sunday ticket, but we have red zone. The new blockbuster thing looks great. My favorite part of dish is my $100 sling box add on that streams my whole receiver and cvr to my iPad or my wife's iPhone. Which is great while she shops. Check your package deals closely between the two.

Cyclone sports are the same on either now that fox changed their formatting

Dish.

I am a baseball guy, and without paying extra for a sports pack I can watch pretty much every White Sox, Cub, Brewer, Royal and cardinal game.

Have had Dish for several years but tried to switch to Direct because of the free Sunday ticket. Direct couldn't touch my setup that I have with Direct (four TVs on two HD DVRs). Direct wanted an extra $100 just to install a second HD DVR. The Service Rep said " but you probably only watch most of your TV on two TVs anyway". I hung up on her. I couldn't believe it, what a ridiculous thing to say.

Direct is the way to go...although i am thinking about dropping my service and going to over the air, and all the good streaming content over the interwebs.

No sure if im gonna do it though...i would miss a lot of football, thats my hangup.

I went to DirecTV from Dish. Dish kills DirecTV in technology. Tailgate all in one sat box. Slingbox integration. One receiver that can feed the rest of the house. The DVR control is way more intuitive. Have to have sports pack to get FSN. DirecTV remotes are awful. Other than that I think DirecTV is ok, but I don't get the love for them.

I've got Dish too and have had it for probably 3-4 years. I went with Dish because at the time they definitely had better receiver technology. I have 10 TV's in the house and with two Dish dual-tuner receivers hooked up to modulators and then a dedicated HD receiver, we can have just about any combination of 5 TVs going at once. Combine that with the Sling adapter to send to my phone or laptop and it's a good system.

When I went with the Dish set-up Direct TV couldn't do the same thing. I don't know if that is still true or not.

I've been OTA for about 5 years and I am getting tired of chasing down streams of games. I initially called Dish & their customer service had me so ****** before I even had my order placed I hung up and went Direct. Directv customer service is just as **** poor imo, I did an order online to avoid people. After I completed order I realized I only had 1 HD hooked up instead of two. I called them to get a second receiver added and it moved my install back 3 days. I'm staying with directv though, the sports programming seems to be alot better on paper.

Regarding equipment: Dish equipment WORKS. Their receivers are not flaky and they work like they are supposed to right out of the box and forever.

DirecTV's receivers are "touchier." I find myself having to reset them occasionally and the setup for whole-home is a little complex. I'm pretty technically-literate and they have really good tech forums online so I'd say I've never had a problem that was serious.

Having said those things, Dish cannot touch DirecTV's programming or HD quality. The one and only advantage Dish has programming wise, IMO, is RedZone being included with the sports package.

Just curious but what about DirecTV's programming is so much better than Dish Networks? Other than NFL Sunday Ticket, what do they offer than Dish doesn't? I've been with Dish Network for 2 years and have loved it.
