It's time to aim our sights higher than we ever dreamed coming into this season. What do we need to do to get placed in Des Moines for the first weekend of March Madness?

I know one and two seeds get preferential treatment for location and I think they try to fit three and four seeds in a regional location as well but not as much. Will likely need to finish first or second or top four in the big 12 to sniff a chance at that. Given the strength of the big 12 a few losses won't hurt that much.
I'd say 12 or more wins in the big 12 gives us a chance with each win above that increasing the odds.

To answer your question,either a Top 3 finish in the Big 12 or finish lower and win the Big 12 tourney in KC like Hoibergs teams and it would probably be enough.

Always count on message board members jumping the gun. This is an outstanding beginning but it's a long season. I'd rather just be delighted by every hard fought win earned.

Defend Hilton and win three or more conference games on the road. I think thatd be good enough for 2nd or 3rd in the conference and a top 3 or 4 seed...no? 12- 6 in conference. No bad out of conference losses (Go Hawks and Uconn!). I dont think thats completely outside the realm of possibility for this team whatsoever. We are fans its okay to dream and speculate. That Des Moines/Kansas City regional would be pretty dang sweet!

Those weren't bad losses, either. Road loss to major conference team and neutral court loss to a legit national title contender. Not bad losses at all.
I keep reading the title as "Des Moines Register March Madness", click on it hoping to see that Randy lost hard in round one.
For what it's worth, Lunardi has us as a 3 seed in the Des Moines region in his latest bracketology.
Yes tickets went on sale I think in October and are sold out. Only region that is. They will release more for specific teams. Des Moines shows up for this event big time.
