Des Moines pizza restaurants?

Orlondo's out on Park Ave has surplanted Tavern and Chucks for our favorite thin crust.

I certainly wouldn't consider it one of Des Moines' best pizzas but I am a fan of Twisted Parrot's pizza. Maybe because I am usually drunk when I eat it.

Carryout? He'd already be driving over from the other side of town...now he's supposed to grab his 'za and head all the way back?

(this in reference to La Pizza House)

My expierence
South, Bordanaros thin, sauce is strong recommend mild if the stomach can't take it.

East, Hilltop is great pizza also thin (think Babes and Chucks before Chucks
went down hill)

Johnston, Pagliais spelling looks wrong but close enough and the pizza is top notch

I love Pagliais. I am glad one other person goes there. I usually go to the Grinnell location but the Johnston location is just as good.

Agreed. Orlondo's has AWESOME pizza, and their house salad is really good, too. I'd probably get it to-go if you're eating with a family.

Encore Pizza in Johnston (Merle Hay Rd) is our favorite thin crust pizza. Having some tonight as a matter of fact. Run by a former Clone, Dennis Gibson, too!

I forgot about Encore. Add that to my list. Great pizza with a bonus of giving your business to a fellow Cyclone. They also have 1/2 pizzas available - never ordered one so I am not sure how they work that. 1/2 for you and they eat the other half?

I've eaten pizza from nearly every place in DM and I'm what you call "husky". I would say Chuck's is the best with Centro a close 2nd.

Wow, tons of responses on this one. I guess I'll drop my list too.

Felix and Oscars for deep dish. My personal favorite is the bacon cheeseburger pizza. I've had nothing like it anywhere else.

The Tavern for thin crust. They also have some extremely good fried chicken there too and it's pretty cheap.

Fong's Pizza for something different. It's an Italian/Chinese fusion so a lot of their items are a mixture of the two. I'm a big fan of the thai chicken peanut pizza.

Boston's out on west University is pretty good too. They have a good selection and it's a good place to watch sports too.

Orlondo's is a hole in the wall out on west Park Ave but their pizza is pretty darn good. They also have good sandwiches and I also recommend starting off with a salad with their house creamy italian dressing.

For thin crust, my money is on Something Italian on the skywalk. Unfortunately they are only open for lunch.

Centro and the Tavern are close behind

I realize this is a little late since the OP was here yesterday, but I love Centro along with the buffalo chicken pizza from Chefs Kitchen on Beaver Ave.
