Depth Chart -- UNI

I have wondered if they wouldn't toy with moving McDonald back to DE next fall. Maybe he adds 15 lbs finally and puts his hand down. We've got depth at LB

I don't see a transfer from Rice beating out Lewis. That transfer hasn't played safety before and Lewis has had a really solid career. I can see Bickham being a good backup but I think Lewis could end up being a late round draft pick but will probably get picked up as an undrafted free agent.

I'm excited to see what the WR's do early on. I think overall this could be the most talented WR group we have ever had.

Kene and Croney will most likely get a majority of the touches at running back for the first few weeks but I think Hall or Brock (probably Hall) will end up starting before the season's halfway point.

Can't wait to see the defense dominate this year and I hope McDonald has a huge year.

You are seriously underestimating Johnnie Lang, and I see Trevor Downing getting that guard spot.

You'll find out week 6 when we have to punt for the first time
I work with Joe's mom and was joking with her about this. I said, "I want Joe to be on the field a LOT - just NOT as a punter" (he is our holder for XP & FGs, BTW). She agreed that THAT would be the ideal situation!

You’re right. Guys like Zach Peterson, Isaiah Lee, Josh Bailey, Cordarrius Bailey, Corey Suttle and Blake Peterson are going to be really scary.

To opponents.

Just give ‘em a little time, and a JC or grad transfer for a little seasoning. They’ll be fine.
We'll undoubtedly take a step back at DL next year, as you don't lose guys like Lima, Johnson and Bailey and not take a step back, but the cupboard isn't bare, especially at the ends. It wouldn't surprise me if Enyi is used inside more next year.

Lewis has been really solid. I think the point is that the staff thinks Bickham might be even better once he adjusts to the position.
Bickham is a very talented dude in my estimation. My understanding is that he committed to Rice very early and was intent on his academic career, or else he might have had bigger offers later. Lewis has been fantastic, but I think Bickham has more upside.

I think Lewis plays smart but misses too many tackles. Bickham might be an upgrade.

If you don't think having to possibly replace all 4 starting DL, and a 2nd stringer too.... I don't know what to say? Very doubtful at this point the DL will be nearly as good next year as this year.
The DL will not be as good next year, because of losing all of that experience. But “as good” would be “among the best in the nation”, and I don’t find simply being “good” for a year as they garner experience a “scary” proposition.

Not with this staff, and the kids they’ve been recruiting. Or the seven/eight guys playing behind them, for that matter.

Farley pulling a switcharoo by naming a starting QB who not the starting QB huh and then heaping all this praise on us. He is a master of mind control.

Over the years on TV interviews Farley would look all serious discussing anything ISU, with a forced, disingenuous look of respect on his face. I think he loathes ISU

When the media ever discussed the U of I during an interview, Farley would almost get misty-eyed discussing Kirk and their program. He is so far up the Hawkeyes' butt it's embarrassing
