Dendy to Kentucky?

Whats with the hate on Dendy's game? The kid could play ball, I could see him going about anywhere and getting some playing time each game. One good example I can think of is Taggert going to Memphis, but I think Dendy is better than what Taggert was.

All of that aside, it seems like he walks around thinking his **** doesn't stink. Also, the fact that he lied about wanting to be here and being excited for next season makes him sound like a d-bag.

Not sure he lied. He changes opinions and feelings so fast that he probably meant it at the time, and changed his mind a million times in between.

His talent would have been perfectly suited for what Hoiberg talks about playing. He loves playing down low, fights hard for rebounds and he can block some shots. At the same time, the guy sprints downcourt once we have the ball, which could have earned him a couple of easy, exciting dunks each game.

I think he would have been huge this year. Too bad he didn't want to stay.:sad:

Wow. If we judged basketball ability by FT shooting only some of the best players ever would have been considered lousy players...Wilt and Shaq to name just two.

Yeah, but now he is transferring from ISU...and, as you know, we have built quite the national reputation over the last four years as a good place to get a transfer from.

Wow. I'll bet some of you (jsb and Cydkar) are hoping that the NCAA repeals the shot clock and we go back to seeing teams employ the four corners offense...huh? You talk as if BB is a very complicated chess match.

The reality is that a guy as athletic as Dendy will probably excel in a system that lets the players play like Calipari runs. GM spent too much time the last four years trying to play a chess game instead of letting the team play basketball. And too many of our fans are focused on what kids can't do instead of what they can.

I have no idea why you think I want the NCAA to repeal the shot clock. Dendy's lack of defensive awareness has nothing to do with ISU's or his eventual team's offensive style.

I hope he thrives wherever he goes. Dendy was fun to watch and frustrating to watch.

Pretty much sums up how I feel. For all his "impressive dunks" he sure did a lot of standing around on defense.

I guess I question whether these schools really have interest in them. He is the one putting out the feelers to the schools, and asking his AAU coach to call them, not the other way around. I could be naive, but this is how it looks to me on the surface.
 
The 3point shot and shot clock have killed BB, if that helps.
 
Time will tell, but he runs very well and he is big and can jump. If he goes UK, he will eventually garner national attention.

Then you are a terrible evaluator of basketball talent.

On basketball talent alone, Dendy is good enough to play for almost any high major school. On the other stuff, academics, dedication to his team etc.... not so much.
 
lol@people giving dendy ****. The guy has a lot of potential. He just has to make sure he stays in class..otherwise, he could play for MANY people..potential wise at least

Weren't people saying this about him 4 years ago out of high school? Has he even come close to what we all thought he could do and either under achievied or not cared? I would lean towards the latter. And he could play if he can keep his grades up, that seems like it could be a huge problem for him.

I think with a *good* coaching staff, his potential would be realized quite well. He needs a little coaching, which is a shame because he barely has any time left in college.
 
Let's See Where Dendy Ends Up

No reason to rip on Dendy, he is a solid role player - a garbage man. His offensive skills are limited, but his athleticism makes him a good rebounder and his quickness allows him to score inside.

Kids can say they are getting all the interest in the world. I will be surprised if he ends up at an SEC or ACC school. A pretty big risk, hoping he is still on campus to play the 11/12 season. It probably only makes sense if a team has a couple solid front court players returning for next year, but no bench because of defections. He could be a high level practice player for a year and then get some PT. I'd be surprised if he would start for a decent SEC or ACC team. He was Hamilton's equal on an 11th place Big 12 team.

I get what you are saying about his raw abilities, but he needs a huge amount of coaching and someone to really keep him in line.
 
Dendy is a HUGE loss...no if's, and's, or but's about it. The guy ran the court and was great at getting garbage points.

He was far from perfect, but having him would have helped the team tremendously.

This sounds very similar to the kid from Nevada that had told everyone from his little town that he was being recruited in football by Cal, UCLA, Oregon, etc... He had letters etc... to allegedly prove it. The people in town ate it up as they had never had a kid from their school play for a D-1 program. The kid had a big press conference, the local tv stations showed up, and basically so did the entire town. The kid played it out and picked up the Cal hat on the table and put it on. The only problem is that word got back to the Cal coaching staff and they had never even heard of him. The kid made the entire thing up and it blew up in his face. This is what I am getting from Dendy telling people that Kentucky is looking at him. Unless he is going to be the equipment manager for Cal I don't buy it for a second. The guy should be playing at Grand View. :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:
