Wat??????????????

Haven't we determined that this is a serious misdemeanor and isn't the definition of a misdemeanor that it is punishable to up to a year of jail time while a felony is more than a year?

Looked up the charge. You get charged for allowing someone to smoke on your property. So as far as we know, someone at the party was smoking and maybe he allowed it. I see this as different than lets say having a pot farm in the basement. So we need to here the whole story. If he was growing a pot farm in the basement, then he gets booted. If he was smoking weed, then a multigame suspension, if someone else was smoking, then maybe her gets a one game suspension. I suspect that Fred will not let this go lightly though.

I'm surprised no one is even taking into consideration the fact this guy is a 5th year transfer. I think you have to take that into consideration here regardless of the charges.

why? Your opinion on it shouldn't change.

I say 5 games minimum. I agree, its not a huge deal, but as an athlete, you're held to a higher standard. Is this Fred's first opportunity to punish because of a "major" violation? It'll be interesting to see how he handles it.

I understand you point but I believe OWIs are a major violation. Millions of people have died because of driving under the influence.

"hosting a drug house" makes it sound like he had a drug distribution ring... this is not the case. He would have been charged with 1) possession, 2) intent to sell, 3)paraphernalia?, 4) some made up drug tax sticker violation, 5) and there would have been a photo on the front page of the RAG showing bags of pot that Ames' finest took off the streets.

The only charge I care about is the first. The last two don't matter.

I trust fred to make the decision. Fred seems like one who will give him another chance.

So if someone has a record, and someone doesn't, but they are both charged with the same thing then you believe the guy who hasn't ever done anything wrong should receive the same exact punishment as the guy who has shown he can't keep himself out of trouble?

I mean Fred knows he's taking risks with some of these guys, and it has paid off very well. I just think when he gives a transfer a chance and they screw it up then it should be stomped on.

If someone was just smoking pot at his place, I could see sitting for a half, or not starting. If there is more to it, than whole games or more.

I don't think this is necessarily true because DJK was charged with hosting a drug house and they did say that drugs were being dealt at the house. I think it just depends on how many charges the police decide to dish out. Depends on the situation.

His bond is $1000. That means he was charged with a serious misdemeanor not an aggravated misdemeanor.

Look at the code section he provided. Pretty clear according to the code it is an aggravated misdemeanor if he was charged under that code section.
