Definitely an 8 Seed or Lower Now

If we play like this in the next game, the seed won't matter.

I love Scotty, but he would get eaten alive by Syracuse or Kentucky's athletes.

Most of our team would get eaten alive by their athletes.... but yes, Scotty the worst. We don't have incredible athletes by those comparisons.

Oh well. It was a better year than we've had for a longggg time.

Who cares what seed we are? We all know we're not taking the tournament. Regardless of the seed, we have one or two games. Whatever. Accept it and build off it.

Some of you sound like we will avoid playing an extremely tough team in the second round if we are a 10.

Potential 1 seeds we could face:

Syracuse
Kentucky
UNC/Duke

Potential 2 seeds we could face:

UNC/Duke
Ohio State/Michigan State/Michigan
Maybe Murray State?

One pool >>>>>>>>>>>> other pool. I would so much rather get a 10 than an 8. Unfortunately I don't see that happening. I'd be ecstatic with a 7 on Selection Sunday.

Murray State?? Not even close. Also, I really wouldn't want to face Ohio State or Michigan State any more than UNC or Duke. Also, Michigan will not be a 2.

Probably right, threw 'em in for the hell of it. They're #10 after all, stranger things have happened

I think I agree with that, but getting off of the 8/9 game means avoiding Syracuse and Kentucky entirely.

Also, Michigan will not be a 2.

They win the Big 10 Tournament and who knows.

I love how the other day when we knocked off Baylor everyone was saying this was the best team since Tinsley and Fizer. Jesus people figure out what the **** you want! One week you high on them the next your thinking the world is coming to a goddamn end!
This team will learn from this year. However they do in the NCAA has nothing to do with the long run for CFH and his program. Let us all live and learn from tonight's loss. It will only do us good.
The future is bright. Very bright!

At one point in the game Texas had 15 offensive rebounds, ISU had 6. That is not good. I wish we would have stayed with the Booker or Ejim, Gibson, White, Scotty, McGee or Allen lineup.

If we can't get a 7 seed I'll take a 10 seed, though I might be happier with an 11 (which wouldn't pair us against a 1 or 2 seed until the sweet 16). I think we can compete with anyone except Kentucky and Syracuse, and in best case scenario I'd like to postpone that potential game until the after the sweet 16... It'd be really good for the program and recruiting to get to the sweet 16. 8/9 seeds suck as the next game is against the 1 seed.

That doesn't get your point across.

The intent was to emphasize the difference between facing #1 seed vs. #2.

#1 seeds have never lost 1st round
#2 seeds have lost 4x to #15 seeds.

From "Walt's Tourney Stats", the number of times each seed has made it to the sweet 16 (total 76 opportunities). Not sure of accuracy and only includes 1985 (beginning of 64 team field) through 2003...

Seed #times %

1 66 86.8
2 49 64.5
3 35 46.1
4 34 44.7
5 26 34.2
6 29 38.2
7 12 15.8
8 8 10.5
9 2 2.6
10 15 19.7
11 10 13.2
12 13 17.1
13 3 3.9
14 2 2.6
15 0 0
16 0 0

Seeds #10,11 & 12 have made the sweet 16 as often or more often than the 8 & 9 seeds combined because they do not face #1 in 2nd round.

Interestingly, even though the #8 seed has made the sweet 16 4x as often as the #9 seed, the #9 seed has a winning record vs #8 (57-51 per Wikipedia).

We need to play loose like we did against Oklahoma and such. We were tight tonight. Better lose that crap or we will be going home early.
