Defensive thoughts...

The biggest screw up was on the fluttering ball Ruddock threw late that was played wrong. That should have been a pick, at least from my angle.

Are you talking about the touchdown pass on 3rd and 8 right after we finally scored our first touchdown? I thought that was a pick 6 the entire time it was in the air and somehow not only did we not pick it off but our guys ran into each other and Iowa scored a TD. Brutal.

Defense was bad, but at least Wally makes adjustments. Looked better than they did during the UNI game.

Biggest problem on defense is recruiting and developing the D-Line and having no depth for linebackers.

They held Iowa under 400 yards despite being on the field almost two-thirds of the game. Yes, they need to do a better job getting off the field on third down but for the most part they played well. I have trouble believing any of our previous defenses would have done much better.

I lol'd at this one from another thread. Defense made plenty of stops and our offense just acted swiftly to get our defense back on the field. Our offense really must admire our D and love watching them.
The first half offense looked like the warriors who fought the 300 Spartans.

IMO, he doesn't have the range to play safety.

I think you are correct that he doesn't change positions but range/speed is not his issue. Pretty sure he is faster than jw and maybe db. He plays a little reckless and hyped up. I love him but i can't see him adjusting to motion and checking coverages. I think he blew the coverage on 3rd down when the wr caught the crossing route. I'm with you, I love him where he is at.

Plenty of stops? The defense was on the field because it couldn't stop them when it counted. Explain the 7 minute drive or the time of possession?

Iowa did NOTHING on offense but run plays that everyone in the stadium knew that was coming..

Iowa had 6 possessions in the 2nd half. They punted on 4 of those. Sorry we couldn't go 6 for 6 in shutting them out.

On those two TD drives, we let them go 60 yards in 9 plays in 4:40. What did our offense do to help them? They go three and out in :41. The next drive Iowa marches down the field on us. Are you shocked by that? They were probably gassed from their measly :41 of rest.

He's a missile and should be deployed as one. It will be interesting to see how he's used against spread offenses.

Or they could have been gassed from that 7 minute drive and repeated bashing with 235lb fullbacks followed by a 240lb RB

Iowa's last two possessions were nothing to speak of..Everyone knew they were shutting down and not a threat to throw the ball
