DC Game Watch Party

The ISU vs. Iowa watch party in DC will be at Crystal City Sports Pub in Arlington, VA. I've been going there for the last two years watching with anywhere from 20 to 100 other ISU alumni and wanted everyone in the DC area to know ISU actually does have a pub to watch the games at and highly recommend it.

This particular pub has Iowa fans too so the three story pub will be packed with approximately 200 - 300 Iowa and ISU fans (makes for a better atmosphere when the enemy is close)

Ah yes, Crystal City Sports Pub. I was there two years ago for the ISU v. IU game, wound up hammered drunk yelling obscenities on the Metro on my way back to the Hill. Fun time, sucks the Hawks are downstairs.

I was there too! It was my first game ever at the pub and had a great time, been hooked ever since. This year I'm being told it will be the same set up, but they are expecting the 3rd floor to be filled with Cyclones & Hawks too because there is a bunch of DSM people in town this weekend for a marathon.

Is this going to be so packed that it isn't even worth going? I have a nice couch...and a great beer selection for the game...at my apartment. Any recommendations on when to get there to get a table/place. I've never been (as this is my first football season in DC).

I had to sit through the next game pounding water before I could drive home... fun time... other than the game

There is another game watch before it... I believe the e-mail said show up around 3:00


Tables aren't the challenge so much as parking is if you're driving in. There is the option to take the Metro in though

Raffle prizes, Amana Pork Tenderloins and beating up on the Hawkeyes..doesn't get any better than that!!! Come as early as you can, we will have a packed house that day! (South Carolina vs. Georgia is the game before ours, so we will be waiting to take their tables as they're leaving!)

I thought it was well worth it. The place wasn't necessarily "packed" but I'd go early if you want a table. I was suprised how many Iowa State fans there were at the bar. It was also nice to to get used to going to the bar as they got alot of Iowa State basketball games.

Yeah, I would take the Metro and walk there. It isn't too far away (from what I can tell). Is it a good atmosphere, lots of TV's, loud game audio? What kind of beer selection do they have? Is every one on the 3rd floor or the 1st floor (I hear 2nd floor is more restaurant)?

How annoying is it having all the Hawkeye game-watchers there at the same time?

UMMM didnt you guys get the memo: No one is suppose to care about or pay attention to this game outside the state of Iowa.

ISU is on 2nd floor, Hawks on the First. Hawks are mostly just annoying when they score and you hear them cheering through the floor, but you can do the same back to them

It wasn't a bad walk, and the atmosphere was great. It's nice to see some fellow Clone fan out in DC. I lived out there for a semester with interning for a senator, and I lived with several other college students, many of which weren't from Iowa. They didn't understand the importance of the game until I was up cooking breakfast drinking Natty Lights playing the fightsong at 6 am. I talked a few of them into going with me and I imagine they regreted that decision as they were in charge of navigating me through the DC Metro back to our place.
