David Montgomery to the Lions

Glad to see him get paid. Hate he's in the North still.
Sad to see him go. The Bears are up and coming, but not sure if he was gonna get paid in Chicago.
Glad he's in a place where he won't have to share carries with his qb.
Bears are going to regret that.
It still makes me scratch my head the way that the NFL has devalued running backs.. Montgomery will likely have 3 times as many touches as Lazard but make less money

Lions trending in the right direction. And the rest of the NFC North rebuilding a bit. He has a shot to be a big piece on a playoff team there.
Uh. Yeah. Might take two years. But yeah. Did you see how much cap space and how many draft picks they have over the next two years? And, the Packers are trending down big time, and the Vikings, well, are the Vikings and the Loins are the Loins.

It's not a running back's production compared to a wide receiver that makes them less valuable. It's a running back's production compared to other running backs. You can plug in a rookie, late round draft pick, and get comparable enough production that it's not worth paying big money for elite performance.
Guessing that means Jamaal Williams is not going to be back because the Lions still have Swift and that would be 3 RB to share carries with

They've got Sewell and Decker at tackle and Ragnow at center, so there are pieces. It's better than any line that Montgomery ran behind in Chicago, by a long shot

I'm a little surprised that they didn't bring him back. He had a monster year getting into the end zone, and I thought he was a fan favorite. A little bit of a different cat, from what I understand, but he definitely was productive for them.
