My apologies if this has already been discussed ad nauseum, as I am a bigger basketball fan than football, and therefore spend more time on the BB forum.

Moving on, did we, or Iowa, or any BCS school for that matter offer him coming out of high school? I know our defense was pathetic enough in the 1st half to likely allow me to rush for 40 yards, but his stat line reads like a brutal combination of Walter Payton, Adrian Peterson, and Marshall Faulk all rolled up into one body. If he was on a fantasy football team he would have scored close to 50 points all on his own.

I think there were some off the field issues/academics, that probably scared off some schools.

There were questions about his work ethic and many schools saw his size and thought he would be too big to be a speedy and elusive RB and wanted him to play WR. I think Rhoades wanted him to become a LB at ISU. David wanted to stay a RB and Farley gave him the opportunity. Obviously he has proved a lot of nay-sayers wrong up to this point as he has not only become a great RB but he is also be of the unquestioned team leaders as a Junior. I've heard many good things about him as a teammate and a student-athlete.

Girlfriend went to HS with him in Clinton, and she said he was very skinny coming out of HS. Wanted to stay in-state, hence lack of out of state offers, and Iowa/ISU both wanted to recruit him to play other positions. UNI was the only school that recruited him as a WR/RB.

I wouldn't say he was skinny coming out of high school at 6'1" and 203 lbs. That would have made him bigger than all of our RBs, with the exception of Woody and Standard. Right now he's bigger than all of ours except for Woody.

He was a huge recruiting miss. He absolutely laid out George on a block. He basically made our LBers his *****.
