Hey All!

I don't think it's a secret that the UNI Athletic Department is in shambles right now and that it starts with AD David Harris who came from Iowa State in 2016.

My question for those of you more 'in the know' on the inner-workings at Iowa Stats is what his reputation was when he was in Ames? I know he was on the student services (non-public facing) side of things which, in itself, doesn't tend to lead toward being the public face of a department.

Any insight anyone has would be very helpful! Thanks!

Why is the UNI Ath Dept currently considered by you to be "in shambles" right now?

He would not have been my first choice. Just never seemed personable, yes man like. Frank Nogel or Calli Sanders would have been better options IMO.

Maybe this was a strategic move by Pollard to bring down UNI athletics from within..........brilliant.

In all seriousness, I would agree that I had not heard their department is in shambles.

Is it fair to lay it all on the AD? Hasn't the whole university been having financial troubles?

this wreaks of digging up dirt to bury the man. Not something I would participate in even if I knew of the guy.

David was well liked at Iowa State by staff and students alike. In many regards he was Pollard’s right hand man. The Department thought it was a huge loss when he went to UNI, but Pollard was a big advocate for him to get that job and everyone thought he was deserving of it. I never heard a negative word about him while he was here and I enjoyed my interactions with him.

Are they ready to take a buy game in Hilton yet? Or is that offer even on the table?

Both Iowa and ISU would give buy games to either or both of Drake and UNI but those MVC programs aren’t willing to do so.

Realize that this isn't the first time the poster has complained about Harris on here. He has in numerous other posts claimed that "Harris is ruining the UNI AD".

He just has a problem with Harris and has to post about it a lot.
I'm not sure why the hell he took the job. UNIs enrollment has been dropping for over a decade and they were cutting programs and faculty due to budget constraints. And all that was pre pandemic. They receive way more state funding as a percentage of their budget than the other two universities, and unlike ISU and UofI their athletic department is not self sufficient and relies on general funds from the university. Talk about taking on a sinking ship.
