If you're referring to my comment; my point is, for example, that the receivers may be running 15 yards before they break when they are only suppose to be running 10.

Right, that's why route running is so important, and guys like Jake Williams are getting reps.

I think the lack of production of Darks and SJ have been written off too much by saying AA "lacks accuracy" in the short game, he's not always hitting guys in stride,but he's not always throwing behind them. Yeah, he laid an egg the Iowa game but it's not like the other two games he's been awful, all of it is not simply on him for "not hitting his guys in stride". There's a lot to be said for 1. getting open (injury or not) and 2. running the right routes precisely. Regardless of the physical tools that SJ or Darks have this offense requires receivers to make proper reads on the D's coverage and run good routes to get open in space. Has there been a ton of times that AA has just not thrown to either DD or SJ while they're wide open on a route under 10 yards?

I saw quite a few against Iowa. They were crossing routes and AA was missing the open man. There is a reason Darks caught so many balls last year, I am willing to bet he hasn't gotten worse at running routes and getting open.

Arnaud struggles with checking down on receivers. The Iowa game is prime example...all those picks he threw were into double or triple coverage...that should mean someone is open and most of the time it was the guy in the flat. Iowa was giving that all day long but Arnaud tried pressing to hard and played right into their defense.

Looks to me like Jake Williams has some pretty good hands. If AA can get the ball close to him, he will catch it. There is the question.

Iowa was giving that all day long but Arnaud tried pressing to hard and played right into their defense.

I was was basically dropping both corners deep, almost playing four safeties, then having the four backers drop deep too... The underneath routes could have gotten 6-8 yards all day... Instead, Austin was trying to force it in the seams, but when you have that many dropped into coverage, the seams close real quickly!

It's something the average QBs struggle with and even the great ones at times - taking what the defense gives ya.

If AA is going to improve, that is the area most needing attention. I think it can be learned but it boils down to self discipline.

I watch Sanchez play for the Jets and am in awe how a rookie can have such football smarts out there, especially in big spots when the game is on the line. In just two games I've watched him coil back for a long ball only to pull it down and go to a shorter route - more than once. He's not putting up gaudy stats but he's also not putting stats in the turnover column either.

Make few mistakes, take what the guys in the other colored jerseys give you and make some plays when need be. Period. Especially with the solid ground attack we're getting thus far from ARob. This offense should center around him, not the passing game. At least until the passing attack proves it can provide consistent production.

Also AA needs to learn to "look off" the defenders and use the pump fake a little more. from what ive seen he prety much telegraphs where he's goin with the ball right from the snap.
