Wow, he looks just like his Dad....

Except for the fact that Barry had the sweetest left-handed release ever, I'd agree with you... Darius doesn't have the distinctive "widow's peak" either...

RIP Barry; you were taken too young :sad9cd:

Darius sure is athletic. He doesn't have a lot of strength but he can run and has some good instincts. He obviously didn't fall too far from the tree.

On a side note, Darius is a 2010 recruit and is already predicted to be a top 150 recruit by some. He's 6'6" and is being pursued by Iowa State.

I'm guessing this is why the athletic department and University tried not to sound too involved in the fundraiser... That 2010 class could be pretty sweet

Barry wasnt left-handed....he only dunked left handed.

I guess I'm getting feeble in my middle age as I would have sworn Barry was a lefty...:baffled5wh:

I'd never even heard of Darius before today, but I'm all for him wearing the Cardinal & Gold in the future!

I saw that picture and did a double-take. It's hard to tell, but it looked like he was shooting from the corner just like his dad. Whether Darius ends up a Cyclone or not, it pretty neat that he was able to witness exactly how beloved his father was in Ames.

He payed great today. From what ive seen 1st hand, he played much better than Harrison Barnes did in the Cap city league. But then again, Darius had some GREAT inspiration today, and he was playing against a lot older/slower competition.
How great would Dykstra, Barnes, D. Stevens look for 2010?!? Can you say top 5 class!?!

I got a few chills reading that. What an awesome feat it would be, if Darius turned out to be a good ball player and wore Cardinal & Gold.

He would be such a crowd favorite. Hell, two Iowa boys and Barry Stevens' son in the same class! I can't imagine the energy in Hilton if they are tearing it up.

Could you have been thinking of Andrew Parker? He had a great career in the late 70's and I seem to recall him as a lefty.

Kinda funny how we may have Ron Harris's and Barry Stevens's sons playing for us in the future. Plus we may get Buckley's little brother Deandre for the 2009 class. And the weirdest one of all, Sean Haluska...

Stevens looked good. He still has not quite figured out how to control his body. He is lanky. Once he get's used to being 6"6f inches tall and how to move better I think he will be great. I would take him in a second. I think that is why Gmac did not go to the game because he can not talk with Stevens.

Saturday was a special and great day for the Cyclone Family in honoring Barry. I just wanted to respond to your post regarding Harrison, as I am a BIG fan. You were probably caught up in the moment of the day, but to take one day and try to compare two ISU legacies from a Legends game to the Capital City League performance is pretty poor.

Harrison is a stud and might have had one game that was off, but otherwise he played GREAT and was impressive in that league on the nights I attended.

Both Harrison and Darius would be great additions to the Cyclone Family.

Although we might only see Harrison on the local/state level, he is definitely on the rise.

Harrison Barnes, Dykstra, and Stevens...

WOW.. I love that class already.

3 character kids who can ball.

I am not insinuating that Darius is not talented, but I did notice the older players lay off him when he would go in for a shot. They wanted the kid to score in his father's honor.
