Darian DeVries

I don't think anyone doubts he is a good coach........I think some doubt he would come to ISU.
I would disagree with that. I’m encouraging you all to watch because once you see Drake play it is very clear how much of their success comes from coaching: gameplan, Xs and Os, and fundamental basketball. They play the game how it’s supposed to be played. It looks like a completely different sport than whatever Steve Prohm is doing with Iowa State

Disagree with what......that anyone doubts he is a good coach, or that he wouldn't come to ISU? Because pretty much everyone I have seen talking about him thinks he is a good coach.

DeVries is my 2nd choice. I think he would be a great option, but I think someone is going to have to pay out for him. I don't really want to get in a bidding war.

This is why Prohm needs to be gone this year. Due to COVID slashing budgets, there are going to be a lot fewer coaching vacancies at the Power 5 level. Meaning ISU will likely have its pick for any coach it wants. DeVries isn’t some national rising star. I doubt most following basketball outside of Iowa have ever heard his name before.

He is coaching one of 4 undefeated teams. He will be the hot coach this year.

That's all good but with any change.......there is change. More than likely if Steve's goes so does Foster and Hunter. Steve could always do his best to convince them otherwise and at least hear the new coach out. However he is in no way obliged, so there would be no guarantee's.

So basically get him while he is a secret? The question is......would he come?

Im not sure what are chances are at landing him but I think this is the only time we have a realistic shot. If he's still there next year and winning, the competition will be too pricey for JP's liking. I don't think he'll be at Drake next year though.

I don’t know. None of us will know until he’s here or he stays. There’s not much point in wondering about it, we won’t know until we know

That's been my entire point. I mean we can watch all the day long and go....wow! That can be done with a lot of coaches. So we agree, let's stop wondering/talking..................................until we know.

Does Devries have any association with Foster. i would think he could convince him to stay maybe. Hunter not so sure. Also doesn’t his son play AAU with Salais?

He might, I don't know. I do however know he has a really good relationship with CSP. Other than that he is in Iowa City right now. So for the sake of this discussion, if Steve is gone and if DeVries is coach.....I would hope in the past he has had some kind of association with Foster. Because I would like to keep the guy.

Our players aren’t any good anyway, if they have to leave for us to heal then so be it.

Drake tips off in one hour. Line is at -18 right now. Would like to note that Drake has also covered in every game they’ve played this year, in addition to winning all of them.
