*^% damn Peiople

Ummmmmm? They dont freak out at the first sign of adversity? Those fanbases freak out after one loss.

Other than that, I basically agree with you. Everyone needs to take one of these.

...some of us may need a larger dose...

Probably a bit of my homerism here, but personally, if there is a fanbase that has a right to *****, it's ISU. The fans have done their part, record season ticket sales, coming out in droves to watch mediocre football at best over the years. I'll agree you have a vocal minority that's a bit out of their head, but honestly, I'm tired as hell of people telling us we have no right to be upset, this is what happens, blah blah blah. It's that kind of mentality that has gotten ISU to the state it's in. "Never going to be better so no right to demand more."

If I can point to one thing that's right about this program, it's the fans. What we are seeing out there aren't just losses, they are humiliations. All this fan base really asks for is to not be humiliated, that's not asking a lot. I honestly don't think many of us were expecting 8 wins this season, hell, I knew a bowl game of any kind was going to be a miracle, but losing to UNI, a string of blowout losses, those are all going to lead to fan discontent.

Put this kind of a season in Iowa City, see how their fans react, then come back and tell us how much worse we are than other fan bases. I'm sorry, but this season deserves some big questions. The injury bug only goes so far, there are obvious coaching, playcalling and fundamental issues that this team has that really shouldn't be there. I am certainly not calling for CPR's job at all. But I don't have a problem with people saying, "Hey man, get your **** together, we aren't happy. And at the end of the day, the fans and their support are the reason you will or won't have a job."

This season really sucks and I honestly wonder about the fans that are content with what's going on more than I worry about any fan losing his **** on a message board over this season.

If you love Iowa State and want the best for players and fans, you would have expected excellence in the program when it was self evident that the output on the field was not commensurate with salaries paid.....

According to Big 12 coach salary rankings, CPR's performance this year is commensurate with salaries paid. Boom! those are facts!

I think people are confusing their salaries with BCS football coaches salaries. CPR is highly paid relative to the average Joe but well below the average BCS coach.

His performance is about 4000 steps below Bcs average.

What success has Rhoads had when considering the entire body of work? 4 out of 5 seasons have been losing seasons and those four are the most recent. Certainly some big wins but overall wins and losses tell the story. So lets not pretend this staff has set the world on fire.

Weird how many people think 6-7 and being competitive to 1-11 and getting beat like a drum week in and week out is a normal bump in a coaching tenure.

Welcome to sports.

The reality is that this is 4 straight losing seasons. It's four years of ineptitude, not some knee jerk reaction. Most of these issues have been masked by a big win or two each season, but at this point anyone can see that there is something very, very wrong with the health of this program and it comes directly from the poor team management skills and practices that Rhoads has put in place since the moment Jake Knott went down. He's over working these kids and his tunnel vision that "anything can be improved with more hard work" can be traced back to many of the issues that this team has, including injuries.

You can blindly follow all you want, which is completely fine, but don't try to talk down to other people for your own inability to see passed the ********.

Rhoads has been inept for 4 years? The problem is he works his players too hard? What? If you are going to criticize Rhoads, at least make some sense.

There are two camps of people: those who want Rhoads fired, and those who are perfectly content with this year. There is no in between.

There were signs of "adversity" prior to the Liberty Bowl. The Liberty Bowl should be all you need to know about how this team is coached, prepared, and stratagized to compete. Your angst is misplaced and you are part of the problem OP. If you love Iowa State and want the best for players and fans, you would have expected excellence in the program when it was self evident that the output on the field was not commensurate with salaries paid.....and this entire year is just the Liberty Bowl over, and over, and over again. Losing a whole year, to quote Third Eye Blind. Did you see the UNI game?!?!?!? That coaching staff had 8 freaking months to prepare for that. Ug. Take your moral sanctimonious posts and go admire your fellow wonder fans on the off-topic board.
Probably the most correct post in a while on here

People callling for Rhoads' head ... just my opinion, but y'all are crazy. CPR is the best thing to happen to this football program in a long time, and just because we're having a crappy season and haven't advanced as far as you think we should have, you think he should get the boot?

In my view, I don't think this magic number of "5 years" should be this be-all and end-all factor. First off, how hard do you think it was for Rhoads to start recruiting after the Chizik debacle? Surely you wouldn't think his first two recruiting classes would be full of All-Americans, or even All-Big 12 players. Plus, consider the disadvantages ISU already has in recruiting when compared to the Texas and Oklahoma schools, or even Mizzou. It's tough to get top recruits to come here, and it's really tough to get a lot of them.

Secondly, CPR may have been his own worst enemy with the expectations his teams have set. We were one play away from bowling all four of the past four years (the two-point conversion vs Nebraska in 2010). We were also only three plays away from going 3-9 in 2011 (UNI, Iowa, Okie State). The Cyclones have been the beneficiaries of a lot of luck, especially in 2011. There has been absolutely none of that this year, which isn't surprising. Match that with a down year in talent, experience and a lot of injuries, and this year's results shouldn't shock anybody.

All of you guys calling for Rhoads' head (Doctor, Gwad, UNIGuy, etc) ... let's see who you would replace him with? Who could you hire to come to Ames who would be an upgrade in recruiting, particularly? Who else would have the passion and the coaching skills to improve this football program? I bet your list isn't very long, and the names on it who actually have a snowball's chance of coming to Ames is vanishingly small.

I don't like this season very much. The Cyclones are playing bad, bad football. They're a bad football team this year, no question. But given the hand CPR had when he came on, fits and starts have to be expected. We got our expectations raised far too high before this year started, when anyone with their feet on the ground should have known this year would be a struggle (not a 1 or 2 win struggle, yeah, but certainly not a likely bowl team).

Next year should be the key. And if there's no improvement after 2015, then I will join you in calling for a change. But this year? Good grief, folks. You want to get rid of the best thing the program has going for it right now. Get over it.

My impression of Rhoads is he knows defense but like some other defensive coordinators who are promoted to head coach he has little clue about offense. There have been numerous examples, in the pros Mike Singletary and currently in college Will Muschamp. His other problem is his temper which causes things like pulling the quarterback at the first sign of trouble.

ISU needs a good offensive coordinator and then Rhoads needs to completely leave him alone.

We are getting annihilated each week against teams in a down Big 12.

One year of experience isn't going to make these kids superheros next year.

Why is there some sort of irrational support for CPR right now? His last big win was two years ago, and the team has gotten worse since then. He hasn't made any changes on staff, our recruiting classes are still last, and we are 1-7. He has had one winning season here with Danny Mac and Chizik players. We were initially excited because we saw what he could do with those players and thought he would set the world on fire once he got his own players. That hasn't been the case. All he needs are a few motivational speeches for some of you to lose all rational thought.

$2M for one win? That more than likely is the highest paid per win coach in BCS excerpt for a zero win coach (infinity).
