Dam to Dam

It went great for me. I ran my personal best 1hr 35min. The weather was great and the post race party is always a good time. Next up DSM marathon.

I ran 1:35 as well and will be doing the DSM full. Have you ran a full before? What's your goal time/pace?

I've never ran a full before but I would like to keep my pace around 8:30/mi. That would be finishing around 3hrs and 45min. Although as long as I can finish under 4hrs I would be happy.

Went all right for me,1:51:03, 4 mins better than last year, but 9 mins off my PR, 1:42- in 2009, I doubt I will ever get that fast without a lot more preparation. The weather was beautiful, the crowd was out of hand, every year it seems to get bigger, had no beers, got sick of waiting and decided to just go down to Hessen Haus. Very sore today though, with crazy weekend and little sleep (Swingin Utters Friday, dam to dam and SWINE fest on Saturday).... Anybody doing the Run to Exile this weekend????

They should consider only giving free beer to people with race bibs, not the guy in jeans and cowboy boots that was in front of me in line...

Anybody else run the Exile 10k? Kind of a cluster asterisks.

Buses dropped off at McHenry Park. We wondered towards 4 volunteers who were trying to call into Exile to figure out where the starting line is. Eventually we all start moving down Oak Park. We get a couple of miles and start to realize that there isn't a volunteer leading the herd. A couple of officers show up to block roads off, but we're still unsure of where we're starting so we hang out at an intersection.

The girls start knocking at this older couple's door asking to use the restroom. We're told that somebody is coming from Exile to direct us to start. We wait past the 3:00 start time. Eventually enough tricklers start to take off on run that causes the whole pack to take off. Course had good police/traffic coverage and volunteers though.

...And when I did cross the finish line my Garmin read 5.6 miles.

Yes. The race part of this was a disaster. Bibs and names that don't line up, poor bus plan, no start line, no gun start, and a course that measured way short.

I assume those groups that left in advance simply had a head start since everything is gun time. And that is really disappointing because I can't tell how well I really did. How many of those that crossed ahead of me simply left early?

The party portion of the race wasn't bad and might have been much better except for the rain.

Improvements needed:
-A RACE director!!!!
-More buses with a separate pick-up spot for EACH race; not one line!!!!
-No day-of-race packet pick-up. Just have the day before only.
-Measure the course!!! 6.2 shouldn't be 5.7.
-Have a start line and a start carpet!!! If you cross the carpet early, your time has started.
-A start line coordinator at the start of each race. Someone needs to be THE authority as each site. The person at the start of the 10K was a volunteer than knew nothing.

This was year one, so I'll cut them a break. Hopefully, they improve and make this a fun attraction.
