Apologies if this has been discussed before.

Went to school '86 - '90. During that time, there was a character on campus that called himself the Cyclone Ranger. He would randomly show up at football and basketball games, dressed with a cape and mask. The fans went crazy. But, that's not all he did! He would also do random acts of kindness around campus. I recall one time, he placed roses on a lot of administrator assistant's desks over the weekend. I think there may have been a note of gratitude signed "The Cyclone Ranger."

Anyone else remember this? Any stories you may have?

I was staff, not a student, but I DO remember him. I even had the article from the Daily on the bulletin board in my office. It's still in my post-retirement boxes somewhere...

I was there 87 - 91. I don't remember the "Cyclone Ranger"...but I do remember a guy that played a lot of pick up basketball that was a bully on the court..nobody wanted to play with or against him....he had a nickname I can't remember...maybe "the bull'?

He would be there all day with his girlfriend.

I think his name was Chris Doyle.

Sounds like Zevs lost his way in the new millenium.

My 2 favorite rememberances of Zevs were mention in a daily article that he entered the US through Nebraska.

Also the nudist Christian Christmas tree he held in front of the campus town QT. I would like to believe he manually removed all the pine needles, but maybe they just fell off.

Still wished I had his t-shirt, but didn't last long.

Is that the guy who told women they might as well be prostitutes and make money from sex instead of just giving it away?
I believe that’s the guy. Mrs. Preacher Jed was not bad looking at all. If you could get past the flour sack dress.

I'd like to hear more. I seriously don't remember a Cyclone Ranger. But I do remember the other two guys mentioned in this thread.

There was a big ISU Daily article about him. I think he may have been a grad student having fun, spreading cheer and positivity? I'm hoping someone else can help me out. I've written about all that I can recall. These 30 years have taken a toll...

I was there from '87 to '91.... still the best times of my life without question.

Was the Cyclone Ranger the guy at basketball games that had a big Cyclones flag and would run as fast as he could around the inner ring in Hilton with his flag? He was always dressed up like a Cyclone Lone Ranger.

I haven't been back for many basketball games since my time there, so maybe that's something that has always happened.... not just when I was in school there?

I come back for a lot of football games, but never basketball for some reason?
