My wife and I were thinking about going to that bar, I think it's name is Trophies, am I right on this? The one that is connected to the bowling alley that has a bunch of screens and whatnot? I can't remember if this is the one, but we were thinking about going out to watch the Texas game this weekend.

Also, isn't this the one that is the somewhat official bar of the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club? We just moved to the area like a month and a half ago, and were thinking hard about joining, but we thought we'd meet some people and see what kind of time we have.

Trophy's is the bar attached to Plaza Lanes on Douglas Yes. Can't comfirm or deny if it is an official ISU Bar. The closest thing I have been to was The Nest in Johnston, they were pretty big ISU fans if I remember right, watched a few away BB games there, haven't been there in a few years?

"Trophy's also is the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club's Gamewatch location and is located at 2701 Douglas Avenue adjacent to Plaza Lanes."

Guess I answered my own question. If anybody is going there this Saturday, say hi to the guy with the hot dog. It's me.

Yes, you've got the right place. I went to Trophies to watch a few basketball games last year and ended up joining the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club. There was quite a crowd for the games that I went to. Here is a link to the gdsmcc web site http://www.gdsmcc.com/

Don't know your age, but if you are in your lower 30's and younger crowd, I'm predicting you would have a better time at 3rd Base Sportsbar in West Des Moines.

All good things people, thanks.

And actually, I'm in my mid-twenties, but as long as I'm surrounded by ISU fans I find myself in good company.

I am a board member of the Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club and currently Trophy's is the site of our game watches. However, we are open to suggestions. Would it be helpful to have a couple of locations in Des Moines for gamewatches, i.e. one in West Des Moines? A.K. O'Connors off of Westown Parkway in WDM is a Cyclone Bar - owned by Cyclone grads. The problem with 3Bag is they are the home of the I-Club for the Hawkeyes. Just looking for feedback on where Cyclone fans would like to congregate with other "like minded" intelligent people to cheer on our teams for away games. Thanks - - -

Did anyone hear about the "Legends of Sound-off" thing at the Legends in West Des Moines? That's a really fun bar, too - I'm not sure of the Hawk to Cyclone ratio, however.

Normally, I dig 3Bag. However, during ISU games, the only thing on special is haterade. I have been there for a few ISU games and there are as many adoptive fans of our opponents wearing black and gold as there are good guys. :frown3qg:

I am a GDMCC member and went to the Iowa game at Trophies. It was a great place. The huge tappers for each table for beer was a big success and having the bowling alley next door was real fun. I really like the location, nows its finding the babysitters to be able to go.

Kjh0006, i have been interested in joining the board if possible. I volunteered at the "Meet the coaches Night" and really enjoyed it. Do you have any helpful info for me?

I go to 3rd Base a lot but it's not the place to watch Cyclone games...it's all Hawks.

It's a good time on the weekends if you want to be around a younger crowd.

yeah i went to the pizza pit the other day and i just remember all those days of walking out of Friley and heading there for a late night meal. Good times. And not that long ago. Sometimes hard to let go.
