Cy Hawk Rivalry

Those Hawk fans claiming Purdy will regress might remember that he was thrown into the fire - under extremely dire circumstances - as a true freshman with no game experience.

That he succeeded at such a high level leads me to believe he will improve, especially since he will learn to read defenses.

I would also give CMC a huge gold star for the Heacock hire. He has taken this defense to levels unheard of at Iowa State, and everyone in the Big 12 has noticed. Of the top 20 Big 12 draft possibilities next year, three were from the ISU defense (Bailey, Lima, Eisworth). For the first time in a long time, it's actually fun to watch the Clones when they don't have the ball.

These games (Cy/Hawk rivalry) never seem to go how you think they will, but I'm fairly confident this season.

The people who think Purdy will regress don't follow recruiting. There is a reason Bama and A&M wanted him

What is there to realize? Iowa is priced at multiples to any other game on the isu schedule. What is isu trying to gain by dumping Iowa in favor of Arkansas as CyTwins claims?

ISU isn't "trying to gain" anything. That was CyTwins' suggestion. In a few years you'll want to be dumping the game, anyway.

I don't think twins was arguing whether or not the Arkansas ticket would be more sought after than the Iowa ticket. I think he was saying he'd rather play Arkansas because it's something different. I respectfully disagree, but that's alright.

Ticket prices have nothing to do with being upset Barta wouldn't let us play Arkansas. From a national perception standpoint playing an SEC team > mediocre Big Ten West team

Posted this in another thread but updated odds have been issued for Iowa State and Iowa regarding CFP appearances and winning their conferences.

CFP odds:
Iowa State - 50:1
Iowa - 66:1

Win Big 12:
Iowa State - 8:1
Iowa - 35:1

Lose/lose game for us

The OL was a mess last year, and they still managed to win 8 games. This year the line returns intact and cohesive. Sans injuries, still want to bet Purdy regresses?

Is the bolded really a good thing? I would hope younger guys push and beat out at least 1 of the returning starters since the ISU OL was pretty sub par last season.

I didn't know Iowa could win the Big 12.

There have been reports that there are 2 rsfr that are pushing for OL playing time. Last year, JGJ was one of the worst OL we had, but that is not entirely his fault. This year will be the first time in his career that he did not change an OL position. Olson was an undersized walk-on, hes not put on some weight. Both Olson and JGJ have supposedly made large improvements during the off season.

I'm saying the narrative has flipped, but back then Iowa fan's clung to the all-time record and the glory days in the 80's. Matt Campbell hasn't beat Iowa yet but if / when he does this year, Iowa fans will say he's 1-3 against KF. Even if he wins the next 3, Iowa fans will then revert back to all time record. I'm not saying you will or that other Hawk fans on here will (besides Walmart) but that will be an argument heard.
We’re rivals...that’s what the fan bases do :)

Yeah I was agreeing with you. You weren't even talking about ticket prices or the demand for tickets. And although I agree playing an SEC seems better, but Arkansas isn't really the cream of the crop. I think playing and beating Iowa is better than playing and beating Arkansas.
