CW - Steve Loney rumors...

Previous OC and OL coach under McCarney, back when we had consistently good offensive lines. 1995 to 1997 (Troy Davis) and again from 2000 to 2001 (Sage, Bruns and Seneca). Spent a lot of time as an OL coach in the NFL. Born in Marshalltown and played for ISU.

Many pining away for him and it turns out he's been back with the program for how long? Really thought this would be bigger news but maybe I've missed an article or 2. I only have 10,800 posts and been active here since 2006 so must have just slipped by.

So let's just assume I'm silly and dumb, what exactly has Loney been doing? How long has he ben doing it? What's his role/responsibilities? How many coaches/consultants can you have on a sideline? Has anyone asked him a question? These are all journalism-ish questions so hoping the resident journalists would have some insight.

I’d guess “dumb” was because there was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago.

He’s not an assistant coach. Looks like he’s retired in Ames and “advising” in his free time. CMC was wise enough to accept his help.

Why is this such a big deal to you?

A retired coach with a ton of experience wants to spend his free time on a volunteer basis around ISU to help ISU get better and I’m sure “scratch his itch” to be around the game. I don’t see how that’s hard to understand or a big deal.

Wasn’t there some who thought he was gonna be the HC someday like 20 years ago?

All of that and you ask why someone sucks so hard? Grow up.
