CW POD: Is pro wrestling fun again?

Brock never needed the money and did everything as a favor for Vince. With Vince gone, Brock isn't laying down for Reigns yet again. I get where he's coming from and I say that as someone who's really enjoyed the Reigns heel run.

It's going to be Jeff Jarrett.

Jeff Jarrett with the greatest talent roster on the planet and unable to book himself as world champion can do some really good things.

J-E-double F, J-A-double R-E-double T. That's double J, Jeff Jarrett, .

Chris seems to have a real fondness for:
  • Pro wrestling
  • Car racing
  • Country music
  • Alcohol
  • Southern Iowa
Now I'm not saying he's a redneck, but if it walks like a duck...
;)

To go along with Vince retiring, several more announcements have come out in its wake:

- Apparently one of the biggest reasons for Vince’s “retirement” is because WWE is being forced to redo all of its financials due to this scandal. Supposedly even though it was “personal money”, it should have been reported. (Of course it leads to “doing the interns in turn is all well and good, but mess with the financials and that’s crossing a line”)

- Stephanie and Khan (not the one who owns AEW) are co-CEOs

Now for the new stuff
- Paul Levesque has been named head of creative

- Kevin Dunn is expected to be “future endeavored” within the next year - whether it’s his choice or is canned.

Source for all of this is just peruse the Cageside Seats site.

In spite all of this, expectations for great changes to the product should be tempered. Sure, we’ll likely start seeing changes post Summer Slam, but anyone that expects NXT circa 2015 to happen overnight from a Steph/Paul-run promotion are going to be sorely disappointed. It’s going to take time for these changes to be made.

I’ll just be happy if they get rid of all of the dopey name changes and every promo coming from the mouths of the wrestlers (not sports entertainers) doesn’t sound like it’s been sanitized about 10 times before it’s spoken into a mic. That and just give us a consistent product.

I pretty surprised they went HHH instead of Jeff Jarrett as booker but it's not like Jarrett won't continue to have a ton of influence. I'd guess that Heyman ends up with a bigger voice and Prichard stays in that circle as well unless Bruce is ready to hang it up and just roll in that sweet, sweet podcasting money.

Should also be more cohesion with Michaels running developmental.

The only wrestling I care about right now is Ric Flair's last match

Walk that aisle one last time! Whooo!
I'm actually overly excited for that. Andrade and Lethal can go and Naitch and JJ can play the hits and it'll be perfect and well received enough that Naitch thinks he needs to do it three or four times a year.

A dvd I have about WCW one of the backstage/booker guys says about Jarrett, “Broke a thousand guitars never drew a dime”.

The Horsemen will be at Starrcast too. Wouldn't be the worst thing to see Arn, Tully, JJ and Barry give Jeff J a beat down

I went to Starrcast 3. Wish I could hit this one.

That'll happen when you haven't been together or married anywhere other than on paper for 15 years. She moved out 'to more efficiently run her campaign' when she ran for senate the first time and then never moved back in.

Jarrett is under contract with WWE. Not sure how he got to do this booking, but whatever.
I honestly don't have much of any interest in the event. Obviously, pro-wrestling is a business, but this just feels more like a money grab for the Flairs than anything else. The promoter and Ric's partner are both son-in-laws of Ric. They are asking a stupid $100 for the PPV. And I 100% agree with you that this won't be the "last match." There will be a "Last Match Rematch" or a "Last Match 2" and "Last Match 3" etc.

If I had to guess, Prichard retires in the near future. Heyman and Stephanie butt heads (again) and he doesn't last (I hope I'm wrong there, Heyman is a huge asset to any wrestling company). HHH and Michaels, in their positions, make WWE a legit entertainment enterprise again. Then Vince sells his shares to Peacock, or Hulu, or something and everything gets sketchy again.
