MLB: Craig Counsell to the Cubs

This is even bigger than when they brought Maddon in. They did it completely in the dark, and got him from one of our top rivals.

Poor Brewers :jimlad::jimlad:

Did not see that coming.

But if your goal is to start winning championships again, this is an *outstanding* first move

has to be more coming right? why bother with Council if you just going to sign a bunch of middle of the road guys? I won't miss Grandpa Rossi at all.

IDK if there's more coming but I do think its a sign that things are changing and a different voice was needed. I tend to like building up through the minors but there might be some movement IDK

Ross taking the Cubs job then was like Tim Floyd taking the Bulls job. They had to know that they were kind of sacrificial.

Highest paid in baseball? Probably needed to happen to get him but not sure he's quite worth that but overall I like it after thinking about it for a few

Highest paid manager in MLB history…are the Cubs under the impression nobody else could’ve had some regular season success and NO postseason success with Yelich, Burnes, Peralta, Woodruff and the best (if not one of the best bullpens) in baseball the last several years?

Not going to rain on our today hater.

I think 1 run games are your best way of judging a in-game manager. No, they don’t cost every game, but can they manage a bullpen and find ways to scrap runs across when needed.

Brewers were 29-18 in 1 run games this year. Go through Counsells career, he has a winning record 6 of the last 7 years in 1 run games.

Cubs were 21-24 this year and haven’t been more than 1 game above .500 in 1 run games since 2017.

Counsell was worth every penny.
