Coworker and cologne

There used to be a guy in my office who would workout over lunch, and rather than taking a shower afterward, he would douse himself with Axe body spray. To make it even worse, he would spray himself *after* he got back to his cubicle. The entire office smelled horrible all afternoon. God, that **** is nasty!

Was your office overrun by hot cougars looking for a cub due to using Ax? If it wasn't somebody should sue for false advertising.

My sophomore year in college, I had a roommate from the Middle East. I think he got about 3 dousings from every bottle of Aramis. Our room reeked of it. I finally went to the dorm council and got changed to a different room. Some of my stuff stilled smelled like Aramis weeks later.
Aramis? I don't think I smell that bad. Or is @CloneLawman Aramis?

Maybe he's very religious and this is how he communicates with angels.

There was a type of cologne that was very popular in the early 90s; I don't remember the brand. One of the grad students in the department that came to my office a lot wore copious amounts of it...the stuff smelled like hospital disinfectant. Blerg.

Like other folks, I've had to be the one to ask people to tone down the scents (for me and for their co-workers). It was really tough shortly before I retired because my boss was the culprit wearing a heavy scent.

If his manager is a tactful person I might let them know that it's bothering me and he might be able to give him a heads up.

A lot of really funny answers in this thread, but this would be the best realistic option.

My wife used to manage a large team of associates and she had to have many delicate conversations about people and their odor.

In my managerial experience the too much perfume/cologne conversation is generally easier than the take a shower more than once a month conversation.

We had a little issue with two women at work once where one complained about the other one having too much perfume on. Almost turned into a cat fight!! I stepped in with my eyes watering and sneezing due to the smell. I told the one gal I was allergic to perfumes and that the last time it happened I broke out in hives and almost needed an epi-pen. She felt bad after that and from then on she took it very easy on the perfume. Solved that problem pretty quickly!!

JFC. My new coworker wears waaaaaaay too much cologne. It's gagging me when I breath too deep. What can I say that isn't too passive aggressive or d*ckish?

Ask yourself if it's covering up something worse... Maybe strong cologne smell is a plus.
