Covid Variant - Pack the Jack?

It would have to get really bad for things not to be business as usual IMO.

Agree. I think hardly anyone wants to go back to lockdowns and restrictions again. I am concerned though; the case rate went down 95% from peak but has tripled the last few weeks. The fatality rate is higher too. That's rather shocking to me. If it levels off I don't think we will have any restrictions, but if it keeps going up like this you never know.

Is there an over/under on # of posts before this thread gets shut down?? Please be civil, folks.

Yes, i know. I am fully vaxx as is all of my family (except baby). However, they are not fully approved by the FDA yet. that makes requiring them by the State difficult if not impossible. that is all i am saying.

That's just not true, there's nothing about the EUA that makes it "difficult" to require. The state has decided to make requiring them illegal, but that has nothing to do with the EUA. Nitpicking about the type of approval doesn't do any good - the FDA has approved them, period.

Aren't the odds of catching it, if you're outdoors, 0.01%, according to the CDC?

I'm not sure where that comes from, a packed stadium is outdoors but not like being spread out in a park. But I'm still planning on being there.

sounds like you just want to argue and thats fine.

i am literally in meetings with university admins. "as soon as they are fully approved the university will require that all students get vaxx with very few exceptions."

I feel ok about things because hospitalizations are still overwhelmingly people that haven’t been vaccinated. But you worry if there is a lagging factor in all of this.

Yep, Operation Warp Speed just cut a bunch of administrative red tape. USA spent a ton of money developing and testing these vaccines. An accomplishment right up there with the Manhattan Project or the Mercury/Apollo missions.

You'd think people would celebrate this fact and go get vaccinated?

It's just an excuse. If they wanted to require vax, they would do it now. I'm sick of the "but it's not approved" anti-vax lie.

Is this a joke? Hannity was mocking COVID for the longest time. He's a joke.

We have hit the stage where anyone that's over 12 who wants the vaccine can get it. Most people that still have not gotten the shot are likely not going to get it anymore at this point (lots of anti-vaxer's and QAnon sillies). These are the same people that had no regard for anyone else and made the numbers rise, causing it to get out of control. At this point it's really on them if they get sick or not and I personally don't care about these guys anymore since they didn't care about anyone when they made the numbers shoot through the roof.

This fall for the Iowa game is also going to be my first time back to a game since graduating 12 years ago so the stadium better be full and super loud!

EUA is not the same as full approval. That's not nitpicking. I don't know if that prevents a University from mandating them or not.

I am OK with those that don't get vaccinated being nominees for the Darwin Awards: Evolution in Action

My 10 yo would like to go, how is it his fault he's not vaccinated yet?

Suppose like anything in life, there is usually some sort of risk. If he really wants to go and you guys decide to take him, he can wear a mask should you guys choose. My 10 year old is going to the games with me. He understands its a risk. No perfect answer, but my opinion is to pack the jack since its outdoors and most of the people there have the opportunity to be vaccinated.

You might have noticed the Olympic athletes who have caught it despite being fully vaccinated.

They are testing positive, are any of them showing signs of being sick? I really don't know if they are getting sick or not. I'm not disagreeing with you I just haven't followed that closely.

do you want even more state funding stripped from the universities because some toothless twat rep from rural iowa pisses his pants about uni requirements?

the universities are doing the best they can dealing with stains

Gonna hope you did more than asking your 10 year old whether they understand the risks.

For the last while he has been promoting "make your own choice" but pushing vaccination if you or people you are around are at risk. He still promotes alternative cures but at least he isn't anti-vax anymore.
