Yeah, the overhead looks like he tried to trip and push the fan and got himself hurt. Just walk normally, and you're fine.

we talk about court storming but we also see players making an effort to celebrate inches away from opposing fans.
It was from directly above. It looked like the fan got a forearm in the throat or chest. Since this was Duke I am sure the NCAA will do something. If you can find it can you post it?
They were outside the boundaries of the court into the court side seats initiating contact with fans. People want to cry player safety but also are also okay with this? This is a very soft and minor example. Just playing devils advocate to the player safety crowd. As long as the player isn't going into the stands who cares?

Maybe invest in bird shot tazersPolice have the capacity to arrest hundreds of people at once? There's probably only a couple cops working every game.
This is the TED talk the world needs.Don’t want to get hurt during a court storm? Don’t lose.
There is another angle of this that ESPN was showing that really look to me like he pushes the fan as the guy runs in front of him and gets hurt in the process. I don't think he is an entirely innocent victim here.
That kid saw Filipowski try to shove the other kid and reacted - imho.that was taunting? weak flag...
I don't feel like this is a difficult issue if an athletic department is serious about protecting players. But I feel like schools like the visibility. A few steps would reduce frequency and make safer when fans do.
I am not convinced court storming is bad. But there are probably ways to make it safer for teams and still make a big victory fun for students.
- Head coaches should publicly create messages against storming and show on video board at every game.
- The coaches and players only need protection for less than 20 seconds. Schools should be able to create a security barrier to funnel fans toward the half of court away from the bench. Something as simple as snow fence or other softer barrier could be used.
- If it's a problem, don't put students courtside. Move them back to like row10 behind the baskets and put geriatric season ticket holders in front of them.
- TV should take same approach as with streakers. Television coverage and highlight shows should not show fans storming court.
- Maybe school could create an alternative celebration for fans which would encourage them to stay in their seats- aka juicy wiggle, sweet caroline
