I assume when you say "cable bill" you mean cable and internet combined? My internet with mediacom is around $100 and was around $160 when I had both cable and internet.
When we started a couple years ago. Hulu live was 49 bucks. They bumped up $15 this year.
No just the cable bill. Our internet/cable/phone (wife won’t cut the land line yet) was $235 area, iirc. We were 125 just for cable. We had a couple dvrs and their whole crap started to nickel and dime.

I had ImOn for cable only in CR until I dumped them (and CenturyLink Internet, whew, what a mess that was) in December.
Our cable bill alone was over $150. We had a couple of expansion packs (although no premium channels like HBO), an HDTV charge, a DVR charge, and charges for 2 cable boxes. Our CenturyLink Internet/phone bill was about $120 (yes, we were getting robbed, thank you).
We went with Mediacom for internet ($50 a month for the first year, anyway) and YouTubeTV (with HBO Max added that’s $80). So $130/month for TV and internet, compared to $270/month for cable and internet. (That math will change when Mediacom’s introductory rate goes away, but I’ll call and threaten to cancel and see what happens.)
We do not have an option for cable so use US Cellular which offered a three line option one line of which is unlimited data. We share on my my son’s yttv and pay him $35 per month. Use an iPad to cast to our tv. Costs $175 per month for 2 phones, internet and YTTV. Added ESPN+ Subscription fee. May have to consider one more option as the ESPN+ will not cast to my TV via the iPad yet.
Wow! I thought Mediacom was a ripoff. I do like that with these services like YTTV you don't need to worry about paying per receiver.
You are getting scammed by mediacom. I just upgraded to 1G and it is $79.00/month. Even though i am only getting 300mbps, it is triple the 100 mbps i was getting. You should call them.

Is the YTTV interface any better than Hulu? It drives me crazy how horrible the user interface is for Hulu. You can't channel surf while watching the current channel. (this is their app on Samsung TV - on phone you can do this)
Any other comparison notes? Cost/channel lineup?

Hulu's on-demand library and original content are why we stay with it over YTTV. I don't use the channel guide so it's not really that big of a deal. We also don't use the DVR since everything is available on-demand so the unlimited DVR on YTTV is irrelevent.
I'll repeat others...I've tried most of these recently through trials and liked YouTubeTV the best. YoutubeTV>FuboTV>SlingTV.
Among other things, Sling was just clumsy, slow, less intuitive with switching live channels/guide to recorded, etc. Here is one small but frequent example - when recording sports, trying to determine "which matchup is in this icon?" since the whole descriptor is "College Football" vs which teams (in my case I was using it for European soccer and Tour de France, many "programs" w same title but different games, stages, etc., so will have same basic issue this Fall)
Another thing I just remembered - my parents just got it since their cable was going away. They have T-Mobile (legacy Sprint) cell plan and that gets them a $10/mo discount. (I think it has to be billed w cell phone https://promotions.t-mobile.com/TV)

I've called them before and $109 is a discount on the 1Gb. They don't offer everyone the same deal.
Wait.....You upgraded to 1G but you're only getting 300mbps? I think you should be the one calling them. Are you getting confused on amount of data vs. speed?
Three things that annoy me about YTTV
1. No 5.1 surround sound. They finally rolled this out.
2. 4k is a joke. Very little content and they are trying to charge $20 ($10 first year). There is zero chance they will charge $20 next year. Who would pay that? I remember when DTV tried this but at least they had HDNet. There was a huge difference going from SD to HD, most people won't be able to tell the difference between 1080i and 4k on their setup.

So what is my best option to watch the UNI game on Sat? I currently have YTTV. Any free trials out there that I can get ESPN+? Thanks!
I loved the History channel when it was more about history. Now for the most part its crap shows.
I found this is true for almost all live TV. We cut any live service when it isn't football season. Live TV is a hot mess and we can be selective with a mix of Netflix, Disney, Apple TV and Amazon.
There's plenty of crap but it still has a lot of good stuff. "Man vs. History" is a pretty solid new show. Also really like the "Machines That Built America", "Foods That Built America", "Men Who Built America" series. "History's Greatest Mysteries" also good.
