Coordinator Predictions

Most of the board will never admit it now, but most of us had never heard of the guy either. He had only been at Texas for 2 years and his name had never been in the news as a candidate for other jobs, at least the way other coordinators like Muschamp and Venables have been.
And because we hadn't heard of him... and may not have heard of people who haven't even been interviewed for open positions it means that we should re-hire Dan McCarney to coach our football program... right?

Seriously?? The opinion is most of us had probably never heard of Chizik before he came to ISU? Doesn't anybody pay attention to CFB in any other parts of the country? I knew who Chizik was when he was at Auburn. Yeah, I had a few tonite while watching the UNI game...so I'm probably overreacting. But still, I find that hard to believe.
Well Paul Rhoades is available however I don't think he will be able to sign another contract since he was supposed to be under contract through next year with Auburn.

Dude, my bad...I dont follow teams I could care less about close enough to know who their coordinators are. How about you just cool out...everyone just cool out. Chalk another one up for not knowing who Chizik was.
I can see why some people wouldn't necessarily know who Chizik was prior to coming here. I didn't expect to see this many people that didn't know who he was, but I can understand it. I knew about him while at Auburn. His defense was stellar down there and when he went to Texas I followed him even more. I considered him our top prospect for head coach when we conducted our search, but figured he was far too prestigous for an Iowa State program. I was stoked when we landed him.
As for OC and DC spots. I wouldn't be surprised to see a bigger name for OC (either an up and coming coach or an established coach). There's quite a few names circulating through rumors at this point so it's hard to tell. We should find out pretty shortly though. I would consider this search a major priority in the midst of recruiting so they should be wrapping it up quickly.

I knew Chizik before I didn't know who he was. I too believe the next DC and OC will be people who some of us have never heard of....some will have.
I had no clue who Chizik was when I first heard of him, but when I heard Defensive Coordinator for Auburn '04 and for Texas in '05 and '06, and considering the defenses on those '04 and '05 teams, I was sold...
Because Chizik decided to keep McFarland and Bolt on board, hiring young guys to run the offense and defense may not make for a real cohesive staff. That would probably be awkward. So I predict some older, experienced guys. And I wouldn't doubt if Jamie Pollard is involved in this decision, as his future may be on the line with the success of our fball program.
Sorry if this has been addressed in a different thread, but do we know a rough time line (or deadline) of when we will know who the new hires will be? Just curious.
I would think sooner would be better than later. Wouldn't the recruiting trail be much smoother if we knew who to sell as coaches?
