Cooke Suspended Today

Wouldn't surprise me if 3-4 guys transfer out of the program. The program is a really different one now. I'd also bet that Otz is gone as soon as he can find a suitable gig.

oh, cool, new hawk troll registered and starts trolling in a bad news thread.

At least check the roster before projecting 3-4 guys leaving. Seriously weak trolling dude. I mean the timing for trolling is start slow and subtle.

Totally disagree. We have actually heard straight from 2 players this year, Nader and Thomas, that they had strongly considered transferring last year- under Hoiberg. Many of
you need to take your blinders off. Things were very far from perfect under Hoiberg.
I'm tired of seeing all the anti Prohm posts from people who have no idea what is going on inside the locker room. A few loses and you assume the players and coaching staff are trying to get out and the head coach is terrible. If we are going to base the coaches success on just a game (or 2), maybe I should remind you of UAB.
I must also add, that I am so tired of reading how many minutes each player should be getting. The majority of you "experts" have never even seen the guys on the bench play, but have no problem letting us all know that we are losing these games because they are not playing enough. It seems that the coaching staff, who sees these guys practice day after day, knows much more then any of us.

I am positive that the only reason TJ came back is because he knew that Fred was leaving. I have no idea if he was promised the job by Fred or Jamie or both or neither, but I think he knew the job was going to be open. Lord knows that everyone on here who was personally friends with TJ (Blum, CW, Jeremy, Adam, the real estate guy, etc) spent 2 weeks telling all of us that TJ was the only person for the job and that even considering anyone else was foolhardy and stupid. And that there was no way he was coming back here with the promise of the job---he just turned down interviews for actual head coaching jobs in Wisconsin for kicks! Because he loved Iowa State so much.

And despite the fact that I didn't like the idea for multiple reasons, I did feel bad for him. And, hell, maybe he would have been the best choice.

But I will say that the crap that is starting to trickle out now seems to follow TJ around like the plague. Cooke thinking about leaving at semester? We didn't even suck at semester. Hell, I don't think we even suck now. The season isn't ******* lost yet. But this kind of unhappy players **** happened under McDermott (with TJ as the top assistant). Players transferring out. Players being rumored to transfer out. All of that crap. Always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm not sure what happened at Washington State or Washington or wherever the hell he was last year, but the team sucked **** and their big recruit transferred out.

It was nice of Prohm to keep TJ. And it was gracious of TJ to stay. But I won't be heartbroken if he leaves at the end of the year. I'll miss his recruiting because obviously he's the one doing most of it. But it might be for the best, long term.

I doubt 3-4 transfer given our roster composition. Maybe 3-4 are thinking about it just like Cooke and Nader apparently did.

Wrong is a pretty strong word. Transfers happen every year to healthy programs- a couple could be "good" from ISU's side. A program going through a transition certainly could see a couple more. I would say if we see 3-4 transfers it makes JP's prioritizing "fit" with the hire even more of an error.

Yes, I mean logically who is going to transfer? McKay, Niang, and Nader are graduating. Thomas? Nope. Morris? Nope. Burton? Nope. Naz? Nope. Even for Cooke, that wouldn't seem to be the wisest move as he would have 2 years to play 1 if he left.

Pretty sure you are a liar. Hines didn't say that, you should be perma banned

So a poster (other than Beyerball) would just make up something that can instantly be verified and you call for the instant perma ban?

One reason Cooke might be considering transferring is because Monte may have indicated to him that he (Monte) is returning.

Weren't they considering this past summer?

A few players will always be considering transferring and Hoiberg had his flaws, particularly once he stopped being able to genuinely recruiting. But, Prohm was hired largely from prioritizing fit and minimizing transition- a large amount of transfers to an already weak Year 2 roster would go against that. I doubt it happens.

Yup, Linden, I think the "Everyone Will Transfer" crowd needs to look at the scholarship chart. Freshman, sophomores and graduate seniors are most likely to transfer and it's best for them if they didn't already burn a year as a redshirt or previous transfer. Many of those on our roster? Nope.

Hell, CF even has the chart up for you all. Check it out and find the transfer. Going to be as hard as finding the hidden image in some of those popular Facebook postings!

Also, his allergy to losing could be cause for him to leave.

Oh please. We had lost once at the semester and were ranked in the top 15. Despite the last 2 weeks, we are still 12-4.

The next 2 weeks could get very ugly, but lets not act like this is the worst.

Ashton can shoot the rock. There are kids playing on teams I've watched this year who don't belong on those teams but they are smart and don't try to be someone they are not. Ashton has limitations not doubt but the kid can shoot the rock. Too bad he's not really played much and now will see time in a big 12 game. And this is on Prohm. There is just no reason why Ashton and Carter couldn't have gotten more time vs teams we clearly we're going to beat. In the limited time I've seen Carter he seems fine. He's coordinated around the rim. Sure he isn't near where he needs to be defensively but who is for freshman that haven't played a lick. Oh...and there are guys who just light it up in practice and don't during games and vice versa.

For 3-4 it would take Eustachy-like player/coach relationships. Let's face it, there may be 1 or 2 that could be due to not being ready to play Big 12 basketball, which goes against the angle (agenda) of the claim.

I imagine you could say 3-4 guys are "thinking" about transferring at some point in the season most years, even when everyone in the locker-room is on the same page and overall happy.

My comment was meant to say that these guys were thinking about transferring before Prohm came. They stayed, because of the changes that took place. They are not leaving because they have lost a few games or because they do no like Coach Phrom.

I think the original poster indicating that many of the players and coaches will leave is ridiculous!

Transfers so he can have a three year career rather then getting to play 4? He isn't going to get 6 to play four, he is only going to get his five years and he is in year three and would have to sit out year 4. Play here two more years or transfer within Div 1 and play the 17-18 season.

All that does when Hines puts that little snipet in about Hallice thinking about transferring in the article is gets people ****** at Hallice. Hines isn't making any friends using "unnamed sources" all the time and it will come back to bite him.
To me, when I read Hines on Twitter or hear him on the radio, he is not very positive about Iowa State. Maybe it's just my interpretation.

as someone who has been to practices and who sees these guys practice, if Carter starts getting significant minutes, it is not good and we are most likely at that time a bubble team. I shared in a thread in October my insights and said Cooke would be a disappointment (some of you need to start reading in between the lines) and that Burton was going to be Big 12 newcomer of the year and that Carter would not be getting any minutes this year. I know your trying to look at the Bright side of things but You guys need to let the Carter thing go, he's just not ready.

Anyone who's watch 3 minutes of Carter play on TV is painfully aware of this too. The fact that he get's brought up so much makes me sad that we have so many clueless basketball fans.
