Now back to the discussion of the visit. There has been an amazing paucity of information about the FB key recruit visits so far this month.
As a broke college student back in the day, my girlfriend and I used to go to Hickory Park to split a dessert.
IMO,, too many people are overestimating the palates of the 17-18 year old kids we are recruiting. Most kids aren't going to appreciate cajun blackened prime rib at Aunt Maude's or the thick oat crust at Great Plains. Hickory Park a great restaurant with an expansive menu and great service. And it is an Ames institution.
Is it the best BBQ place in the area? Nope. Best Burgers? Nope. No steaks, or lobster tail either. But it's good food, they have a ****ton of menu options, and you get your food hot, consistent, and fast for a great price. They are among the very best in the country at what they do, and very few if any can replicate the experience. There is no reason not to be proud of it or not suggest it as a great place to go.

It's that great Iowa State University education! Interestingly, at least to me, was that when I entered ISU as a freshman, English was my lowest ACT score by several points. By the time I left grad school there, classes with papers were my strength.

Yeah, it should be on every recruiting kids tour list unless they specifically have a reason not to.

I am pretty sure they send them a virtual walkthrough of everything. The stadium starts with the drive up on University Blvd. Maybe that is what he is referencing..
