Wow, that is a lot of scopes. Are the recommending every 6 months? Asking because that is extremely odd, 3 months is unheard of to the best of my knowledge.
I'm not someone who follows medical procedures but that does not sound like a pleasant experience. Best wishes for your recovery.
They keep finding polyps and the number increases basically every time. I refuse to remove my colon (or most of it) at this time because I’d rather just keep getting scoped than deal with all that.
Still doing yearly for now but they said it will probably be beneficial to do 6 months soon. My insurance is covering it all and I’m used to it so I don’t really care.
Would rather not end up with a grapefruit sized cancerous tumor like my dad found and died ~10 years later after chemo.
That’s fair, I just assumed they would have recommended surgery at that point if they couldn’t remove them all during the procedure but I get wanting to avoid that. Good on you for staying in top of it, so many don’t.

Nope they inflate your colon with air to get a better look around. It’s a fairly common practice when CO2 isn’t used.
There’s been many discussions on surgery including removing the colon completely, a bag outside the body, an experimental one like using an animal or donated colon, and probably a few others I am forgetting.
But they haven’t had any issues removing the polyps yet so I haven’t really entertained the surgery option so far.
Honestly I would probably go the same route you are with how you’re describing it.
Had my first one about three months ago. The prep was honestly pretty easy. Had the two part prep with 32 ounces of water each time and it went to work pretty quick.
The procedure went fine. Had it done in Ames on a Monday and they really worked you through like an assembly line. One part I didn’t like, was feeling like crap from the fentanyl wearing off.
It immediately knocked me out and the next thing I know I’m waking up in the recovery room feeling loopy. Started feeling a little better, left the hospital, went to grab a bite to eat, went home, crashed, woke up about an hour later, and felt like absolute garbage for the rest of us the night and part of the next morning.
Best news…..scope came back clean and I am good for 10 years.

Not to pry, but I assume you’ve pursued some genetic testing? Won’t help you in the near term but might potentially help science and medicine. Like if you don’t have Lynch or FAP then your DNA might help us understand different targets for treatment
The marketing person that named one of the preps "Go Lightly" had a sick sense of humor.
Under went 3 in 15 months, had a few polyps removed with 1st one. Dr. couldn't remove a large polyp at that time because "he didn't have the proper tools." Second colonoscopy got last polyp, all came back negative. Third procedure was a follow up to make sure "healing" was going as expected. Now I have a 10 year pass to avoid this sh!t train again.
I've had 8 and get one every 2 years due to having UC. Prep sucks, procedure is nothing, and if it catches cancer early in the long run then I have no issues with what I've been doing.
I'm 44 so my time is coming soon. I've had season tickets to ISU football for over 20 years so my anus is prepped.
I’m 44 and have had two due to some recurring issues and family history. They are no big deal. Actually more enjoyable than certain days at JTS
I am 34, had my first colonoscopy earlier this year due to some symptoms. I also was just diagnosed with UC. Was interesting to read another cf person with this stupid disease!
