Collin Bevins to NWMSU

Surprised we aren't hearing more from the "my friend knows a friend who knows the inside story" sources.

I know it was ridiculous. You just asked how anyone could think you had bias, and I came up with what I thought was a rational argument. At least I didn't use the "SW IA kids could marry their dads to shelter their inheritance" argument!

Well then you'd also have to assume it is a relative, based on where he is going.

Maryville is a fun place to party so it's got that going for it.

My roomate in college was from Hopkins, Missouri (and may actually have been the only person residing in Hopkins, Missouri when he lived there) and I partied in Maryville a handful of times. It sucked. Aside from being able to buy 30s of all types of beer, it had no redeeming qualities and the bars were dirty and empty.

Because he was a freshman who was 1st string on the depth chart at a key position and he quit on his team a month or so before practice starts? Hope the move works out for him personally, but as a Cyclone fan losing a starter on our already thin DL sucks.

Along with the apparent tweet about losing love for football and then promptly signing on with another school. When all these things are put together, it is certainly easy to see how that will generate dismay amongst ISU fans. Even so, it doesn't justify some of the things that were posted here.

I think that's just the way its going to be with transfers. As someone else mentioned above, all sides want to put a good face on the situation, so the real reasons stay buried. Like they say, you can put lipstick on a pig to make it look better, but in the end, it's still a pig. Transfers are often a messy situation. But maybe at least try to come up with some statements that aren't blatantly contradicted by your actions the following week...

Dude have you ever been to the "Hopkins Picnic?"

Some crazy times......

On another NW Missouri side note, it is the only place I know where a guy can buy some "Beer-30" now a days.

Yeah transfers suck when you lose them but Iowa State sure has benefited from quite a few of them too. It's the modern day culture of college athletics.

That thread was about the "worst towns in Iowa." These posts were bashing an entire group of people based off of where they live - all because an Iowa State football player from the area decided to transfer to another school.

That is ridiculous.

Iowa State has had (off the top of my head) two real southwest Iowa players on its roster in the past decade. It's kind of hard for me to be biased towards "those guys" even if I wanted to. Actually, it'd be ridiculous because that statistic alone shows you that the talent level in that corner of the state isn't anywhere close to being what I would call "stocked."

Im sure you are counting walk on Sidney Cowboy Broc Bebout in that list!!

Sounds like he missed his buddy from HS and wanted more love from coaches and teammates. If he came to Ames and didn't connect well with friends and coaches, especially while everyone else seemed to do so, I understand that he would want something else. Perhaps the lack of "friend of a friend sources" is itself evidence that he was pretty isolated here. Again, like CW said, another semester may have made a big difference. Wish he would have stayed and given it a try, but if it wasn't meant to be, then it is best for him to go elsewhere.

Creston has a newspaper? You mean to tell me there is someone in that podunk town literate enough to...nevermind, we agreed not to go there.
It's amazing the volume of work a guy on meth can do if you give him a typewriter.

I wish him well, but he lost my respect. The time to do this would have been this past spring. To drop your team in late June shows just how much respect he had for his team, coaches, and school. It looks like a very "me first" type of personality and probably gives some insight into why he felt isolated. Now, if it comes out the coaches ran him off, then I will change my opinion. Until then, it is just another case of someone showing us their immaturity. Now, he used up someone elses practice time all spring. We used an entire recruiting season with him already pencilled in. And, we are a month out of serious practice in which his team and coaches were counting on him being part of our schemes. And football aside, trading in an ISU degree for a NWMS degree??? Brilliant.
