Almost a month after they announced last year.

I bet it gets announced this week. Heck there's a great chance it gets announced tomorrow since it is the start of the week.

Let's take a look at which games could get GameDay for Saturday, Jan. 17. I'm just picking the best game of the day in each conference.

Big 12: Kansas @ Iowa State
ACC: Duke @ Louisville (at noon)
B1G: Ohio State @ Iowa
SEC: Kentucky @ Alabama
Pac-12 / American: UConn @ Stanford (on ESPN2)
Big East: Marquette @ Xavier

Looking at these, I feel like the only other realistic option is Duke-Louisville. I think that game has a decent shot at getting picked over ours. The only thing I am curious about is that it is scheduled for noon. Are noon games usually/ever picked as Gameday sites?

Also of note is that Louisville hosts UNC two Saturdays later in a game that is scheduled for either 4:00 or 7:00pm and could be on ESPN. Gameday could instead go to Louisville for that one.

find out what channel is carrying Duke game, if it is one of CBS's games - then they won't do gameday there

Can't they switch around ESPN games to accommodate Gameday?

If the programming people at ESPN chose to put a game on ESPN2 rather than ESPN, why would they later give it Gameday? Doesn't make sense to me although I'm not sure if that happens or not.

I could see UConn at Stanford being a possibility. They'd have plenty of storylines to talk about...national championship team vs. program on the rise, highlights of Stanford beating KU in the tournament, both teams coached by former NBA players, Dawkins being a Coach K protege as both a player and assistant coach, so on. The ESPN guys would slobber over all those Duke connections.

It will not be UL/Duke if that game tips at Noon. The Gameday site always hosts the 8pm game on ESPN.
