No, it is definitely Hoks. Has been for 40+ years for me and always will be. Think of it as a term of endearment like Little Bro, 'Clones or Zags. It will grow on ya.

Iowa fans are bothered by Cowherd's trolling because they know he's right. If his ranting was all BS it wouldn't bother them so much. But the fact that there's so much truth behind his opinion is what upsets them.

I think Cowherd is the best in the business. Great radio guy and had a great first book. I listen to his podcast every day and laugh a lot and he has good insight and great guests. If he sucked he would not have the guests that he does. ESPN has to cut $100 million in 2016 and $250 million in 2017. His contract was up and ESPN couldnt compete with fox sports contract number. ESPN will be a shell of its self in 2017.

The next time you're in Kinnick or Carver open your ears. They are not yelling "go hawks" , they are yelling " go hoks." Sounds exactly the same as, "wow that is a huge amount of phlegm you hoked up."

All I know is that Cowherd is in the same class as Bayless and Steven A. They get paid to instigate and provoke regardless of truth or common sense. It doesn't bother me in the least I just find it funny when so many people freak out over it.

His ratings are actually really good when it comes to sports talk radio. #2 sports podcast on iTunes next to Bill Simmons. I really don't think hes doing this to get attention since Iowa probably accounts for less than 1% of his listening base.

Last Friday his show drew 53K viewers. Last Thursday, 49K. Last Wednesday, 49K. More people go to Minnesota Golden Gopher football games than watch him nationwide. Other radio simulcasts like Mike & Mike pull upwards and over 300K daily. Mike & Mike. Yikes. And this is when his show is still relatively new and at its most intriguing.

His overall point regarding Iowa is a good one. I'd love to get into a solid home/home with a really great P5 program, like what Wisco and MSU has done. But Cowherd himself is going continue sinking now that he doesn't have ESPN behind him.
