Cole played center for Auburn in the late 90s, works with the SEC Network, and hosts a sports talk radio show in Alabama. The connection Cole and I have is our enthusiasm for Tecmo Bowl. Cole has taken part in a few Tecmo Bowl events raising money for charity. Most notably an event for ALS where you made a donation and If you beat Cole you'd win a 52" curve TV. Cole went undefeated that day rolling through about 20 people. What I find amusing is that through his radio show, many people in the south(SEC footprint) know about his Tecmo skills from these events. He's constantly being challenging online and people talking trash at him on twitter about how they could beat him. 90% have no shot.
Cole and I talked about getting together in Ames for some Tecmo Bowl last night. For social distancing, I have a quiet generator, put a 52" TV in the back of my Toyota Sienna, controller extension cords for spacing, and play outside in the parking lot. However ESPN has some fairly strong quarantine guidelines for the crew on location at their hotel, so we weren't able to. I'm looking forward to getting his thoughts on JTS after the game. Really disappointed that he won't get to experience the regular gameday atmosphere. I told him to get a slice Casey's pizza while he's up here.
