I’m wondering why ISU doesn’t have the Assistant Head coach title? Most teams have HC, Assistant HC and then 2 Assistant coaches for wrestling (Iowa,
MN, Purdue for example) Why run one short?

The NCAA limit is 3 paid coaches, no matter if they're called head coach, associate head coach, assistant head coach, or assistant coach.

All of the schools you listed have 3 paid coaches.

Really? So when Zadick was here Metcalf or St John were unpaid? That doesn’t sound right.

Or perhaps you’re sayin you can have 3 paid assistants.

I guess to restate the question, Zadick left and wasn’t replaced. We seem to be one coach short compared to peers.

Nope, only 3 paid coaches. Head Coach (Dresser) and two assistants (St. John and Metcalf). Most teams have a volunteer assistant and that position is a lot of times collecting a salary through the RTC. We actual do have Fernando Villaescusa in that volunteer position currently and that is the role Metcalf was in until Zadick's departure.

Is there a limit to how many “Volunteer”
Coaches via RTC’s you can have? Are there rules on those guys at all?

1 volunteer coach can participate in coaching, practice, or other organized team activity -- but not recruiting off-campus.

I think you can only have 1 volunteer assistant on the bench. I'm not sure all of the rules. This year we have Fernando Villaescusa, whose son is a recruit and he speaks Spanish to help with communication between the staff and Bastida.
