Appreciate the info, but get really tired of the "I know something but can't say" crap. If you wont say anything, just let us be surprised or tell us about it after the fact.

There is an easy solution to that; you can always put those people on ignore. The rest of us happen to appreciate what they provide while still understanding that they cannot give more information if they want to remain in the know. If people just blabbed about everything they knew all the time, we would never have any inside information at all.

What I was stating is that you have the same potential conflict as Fred had, meaning that we let Fred have a low NBA buy-out because we knew that's ultimately where he wanted to be. IF Underwood was the guy, you would have to decide if you would let a potential buy-out discussion get in the way.

I agree and I don't think Underwood is even close to being that much better than the other candidates that he could get the job and a really favorable buyout situation.

If he says no to the buyout, just go the other way.

We LET Fred have a low NBA buyout. We DID NOT allow the same with other NCAA jobs.

Underwood would have to be willing to sign a contract with a $5+ million dollar NCAA jobs buyout...and know that it's not just BS...it's GOING TO BE PAID...NOT NEGOTIATED.

IF he's willing to do that...then he's IMHO your guy (minus if Jeff H somehow got back in the mix).

Bill Self seems to get buy being an OSU grad that coaches at in conference rival KU.

I'm also guessing Underwood was trying to get the job when Webber got it...so he might not be opposed to showing how big of mistake that was.

5 million for any NCAA job is insane.. It doesn't need to be that. Just put a Big 12 in the first 3 years is full buyout of the remaining life of the contract.

That info means nothing without a name. Anyone can claim they know the names, without really knowing, and never say. If you truly know these names, they need to be confirmed when it is over.

Leaks, leaks and more leaks. Make it look like an extensive search. TJ gets the job and everyone is happy that they searched high and low. we have one year and then it will be Fred who, how his transfer strategy wasn't good for the long term health of the program, resentment that he didn't build it to sustain, etc. We need to win a lot and give the new guy some time. College basketball isn't worth 3-5 million. Save that money for the next football coach where the bills get paid. Welcome aboard TJ, the best candidate available for a small budget

Just shut up. If you don't want info, then don't come on here. Jeremy is giving us what he has heard, which most of us appreciate very much. But if he can't give some specifics because he feels it might jeopardize the search, then so be it.

I'd rather wait and be happily surprised by who we get, then to find out we lost out on a splash hire because it was leaked.

I believe Jeremy has told the moderators and once the process is over they are to confirm whether or not the new coach was one Jeremy named.

I guess you can have that opinion. Personally, I'm glad to hear that we're at least looking into a couple of bigger names to see if we can get something done with them. If not, so be it, but at least we looked into it.

Sort of..as much success and national attention that our program has received in the last several years I would have sworn we would be bringing in many stud Hs recruits and we havent brought in really any. Sad. Maybe it's because the last two years Fred and the staff put all their eggs into two players total.

I tend to think this is part of why Fred went to the NBA. If he couldn't get a five star with success he had he didn't expect to go further in the.

Yeah I put Tony Bennett on the no list simply because he was incredible last year and I don't think there's any way to get him away from Virginia. I think they have plenty of money to pay him, and the ACC is also an elite conference.

Kruger, I see your point. Fan support is 100x better plus a raise. But they are going to be good next year plus the intraconference thing usually scares people away. I'm sticking with no.

The more I look, the more I think Jay Wright. Ignoring any Fred Hoiberg esque BS about staying somewhere forever, he would make the most sense to fit the mold of what the mods are hinting at.

People would go absolutely nuts, and he hasn't gotten to the Sweet 16 since 2007/2008.

He's now on the outside looking in when it comes to the Power 5 conferences. Villanova can't pay him what we can because of that. Villanova is supposed to be good next year though, but the pressure to be absolutely perfect would be removed for him every year, and it's a new challenge.

Of course, he's probably never leaving Villanova and that's all just a .0001% pipe dream. But for $4 million a year, that's what you can get, I'd imagine.
