Outside JH none of these guys excite me. I know JH is very very unlikely at this point and thus I'm just bummed. Underwood sounds ok, just ok. Assuming the players want TJ I'd say go with him if JH is completely off the table. The players deserve their choice and given the pool of candidates, I don't see a big enough difference to justify not going with TJ.

This whole situation just stinks.

If Fred is on your show, ask him how he feels about ISU's front line depth (or lack there of)for next year. thanks.

Not sure if there's a tactful way to ask, but tomorrow you should get Fred's perspective on the Palo situation. If there is a tactful way, I'm sure you can do it Chris.

Uh, no, don't ask about Bubu.

However, you must ask about the Cyclone Fanatic nut cup!

Come on, CW, you said that you were going to ask him about it this summer.

CW, Jeremy has mentioned on a couple occasions that there could be a couple of "surprise" candidates per his sources that are being kept under wraps. Have your sources indicated anything similar or do you feel the list of candidates you mentioned for interviews pretty much covers it?

People need to seriously give up on the JH pipe dream already. It was an incredibly long shot at best, and he has already come out and said no.

I just hope this ends soon. I'm getting married next weekend and going on my honeymoon two days later on the 15th, so I don't want to go to another country for a week not knowing who our next HC is going to be.

Thank you CW for your professionalism on this site. Wednesday was interesting, but it is clear normalcy was reigning behind the scenes for those not involved only through the message board.

Looking forward to an announcement next week and further analysis on next year's outlook and future recruiting. I hope TJ is involved somehow for continuity and recruiting.

Not sure how fair it is to tj to expect him to stay too long if he's not named head coach. I imagine he has dreams too. Maybe a year or two at most?

I have hopes for next week as well. That 2-3 week comment threw me.

Happy almost Friday.

Thursday was a pretty quiet day on the coaching search front. Or maybe compared to Wednesday, every day will be from now on.

I did hear one tiny tidbit tonight. One source said that it no longer sounds like Lindsey Hunter is going to be in the mix. I'm going to take this very loosely but the source was very firm.

Also, everything I am hearing behind the scenes is indicating to me that the president vs. Pollard rhetoric has been overblown. There are differing opinions but it sounds like the two are cordially working together and not against one another.

Other than that, I think this search is simply at the point where interviews have been scheduled (Underwood, Prohm, Drew & Otzelberger per Andy Katz) and all we can do is wait.

I am still holding out for a possible fifth candidate. I thought that might be Hunter but as noted above, that's sounding less and less likely. The only other names of "splash" type guys I have heard throughout the process are Tad Boyle (Colorado) and Dana Altman (Oregon). However, I don't see either one of those candidates becoming Iowa State's next head coach for multiple reasons.

Fred Hoiberg will be in town to meet with the local media on Friday at 1. He's also scheduled to make an appearance on my radio show (that I co-host with Ross Peterson), Sports Fanatics that you can hear from 4-7 on 1460 KXnO.

I was 100% certain of this from the start. Probably because I don't have an agenda and my head is clear.

This X 1000.

I think you should ask about the timeline of events that lead us here, specifically about Romar's comment. Does Fred have any idea to what Romar was referring? Romar's comment was a news story - the DM Register had an article in it, Keith mentioned it on WHO newscast.

Please ask him where his favorite place is to get deep dish pizza and Chicago dogs. Also, ask if he will be a Cubs fan or White Sox fan. These are the hard-hitting questions that we need to know the answers to.

Lol why are there people on this board that still care about the Palo situation?

I'd say its pretty obvious what romar was referencing at this point.
