Coaching Search Rumors - Consolidated Thread

Are we gonna get a good coach or not? We just suck at this and we can't suck on this one.

We won't know if we made a good hire until 4-5 years into it. If next year we make a bowl all the fans will be happy, put 4 losing seasons behind that not so much.

Next year should be a bowl team, almost regardless of the coach. But you are correct.....5 years to have a true picture, unless the guy is incredibly good or bad.

SI did an article on predictions for the Coaching hires. Here is what they said for Iowa State:

IOWA STATE: Athletic director Jamie Pollard made it clear that he wants a sitting head coach for this job. While that's a gutsy move at one of the most challenging jobs in the nation, it's shaping up to be a surprisingly strong field for the Cyclones. Toledo's Matt Campbell, Bowling Green's Dino Babers, Georgia Southern's Willie Fritz and Navy's Ken Niumatalolo are the top candidates. Pollard wisely has put the search in overdrive, with interviews expected to play out over the next few days. (There's some secondary interest in Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm, but he's not expected to interview anywhere until after the Conference USA title game on Dec. 5).
Pollard has the benefit of having seen Campbell's Toledo teams play in person the past two years. Toledo beat Iowa State in double overtime, 30—23, this season and lost to the Cyclones, 37—30, in 2014. All the candidates bring a distinct style on offense, so some of Pollard's choice may come down to what he wants to see in Ames. Niumatalolo's triple option? Fritz's hybrid triple option from the shotgun and pistol? Babers' spread? Or Campbell's run-heavy blend of pro style and spread concepts?
Prediction: Matt Campbell

No mention of PJ Fleck at all..

I wonder why Fleck was trending up yesterday and trending down this morning. This search is something else.

Last I heard was Campbell was the frontrunner for the Mizzou job, but maybe they are now leaning towards promoting Barry Odom, their DC. Nobody seems to know anything right now. Other than Pollard loves Detroit in the winter time...

Wonder if Hoke still lives in Michigan? Might be another man Pollard meets with on his trip.

I think I read an ESPN article that said Hoke lived in North Carolina now and was working for SiriusXM.

I don't see JP announcing a hire tomorrow. I think he spends time in Atlanta and has a few interviews.

The search firm will set up interviews and will be working the phones gauging Coaches interest.

I don't predict a Hoke or Schiano get the job.
