I'm gonna assume you haven't been paying attention to how Bohl has been doing at Wyoming.
We need good assistants with recruiting connections, you can have an awesome head coach, but if your assistants are not very good you suck as well. It's very crucial for Iowa State to get a good X's and O's guy and for him to fill out the staff with good assistants to recruit and develop.
What the hell? I want what is best for Iowa state. I guess if that means being delusional about the type of coach that wants to come here, I'll do it.

It's not a real coaching search until Jeremy comes in to tease us with his "inside sources" and then pulls a "for good of the program" excuse for not divulging what he supposedly knows.
Dont forget about him getting pissy if someone doesn't agree with him.
Slow cooking is the best, I bet Chizik is available he won a NC his second year, at Auburn. Is that what you are looking for?
I might be in the minority, but I think we can get a good coach and staff here and turn this program around. I realize the disadvantages we face, but other programs do too, need a vision, innovator coach.

My three thoughts on this thread:
1) those saying Tressel, Pelini or leach are the same group that insisted Billy Gillespe should be our bball coach instead of Hoiberg.
2) you have to hire fit, plan and personality. You can't hire based on scheme or prior role.
3) I agree with the poster who said "young and energetic". I think Frost and Wells fit this.

Any coach that runs a spread attack is not a good fit. I'm convinced the only way to win consistently at ISU is running power football. It's boring, but it produces.
Put me in the non-spread but not triple option camp. Pro set or power set like we've been running. We need to be different but not archaic.
I had heard from somebody working with the football program that JP had been watching Partridge with interest, but he's too tough a sell with how things have gone for him at his current stop. He's a great coach, though.
